unhhoanne sathkarapoorvak muni ki pradakshina karake unhhean vida kiya. jab ve munivar yajnavalhkhy chale gaye, tab moksh ke jnata devaratananhdan raja janak ne vahian baithe-baithe ek karo d gauean chhookar brahmanoan ko dan kar dian tatha prathyek brahman ko ek-ek aanjali rathn aur suvarn pradan kiye. isake bad mithilanaresh ne videhadesh ka rajhy apane putr ko sauanp diya aur shvayan ve yati-dharm ka palan karate hue vahaan rahane lage. rajenhdr! nareshhvar! unhhoanne samhpoorn saankhhy, jnan aur yogashashtr ka shvadhhyay karake prakrit dharm aur adharm ko thyajhy manate hue yah nishhchay kiya ki 'maian ananht hooan .' aisa nishhchay karake ve dharm-adharm, punhy-pap, sathy-asathy tatha janhm aur mrithyu vhyakht (buddhi adi) aur avhyakht (prakriti) ka kary manakar sabako prakrit (prakritijanhy evan mithhya) samajhate hue prakriti sansarg se rahit apane shuddh evan nithy shvaroop ka hi chinhtan karane lage. yudhishthir! saankhhy aur yog ke vidvanh apane-apane shashtroan mean varnit lakshanoan ke anusar aisa dekhate aur samajhate haian ki vah brahma ishht aur anishht se mukht, achal-bhav se sthit evan parathpar hai. vidvanh purush us brahma ko nithy evan pavitr batate haian; at: tum bhi use janakar pavitr ho jao. narashreshhth! jo kuchh diya jata hai, jo di huee vashtu kisi ko prapht hoti hai, jo dan ka anumodan karata hai, jo deta hai tatha jo us dan ko grahan karata hai, vah sab avhyakht paramathma hi hai. yah sab kuchh deta aur leta hai. yudhishthir! ek matr paramathma hi apana hai. usase badhakar athmiy doosara kaun ho sakata hai. tum sada aisa hi mano aur isake viparit doosari kisi bat ka chinhtan n karo. jise avhyakht prakriti ka jnan n hua ho, sagun-nirgun paramathma ki pahachan n huee ho, us vidvanh ko tirtho ka sevan aur yajnoan ka anushhthan karana chahiye. kurunanhdan! shvadhhyay, tap athava yajnoan dvara moksh ya paramathmapad ki prapti nahian hoti ( ye to unake tathv ko janane mean sahayak hote haian ). inake dvara paramathma ka shpashht (aparoksh) jnan prapht karake hi manushhy mahimanvit hota hai. mahatathv ki upasana karane vale mahatathv ko aur ahankar ke upasak ahankar ko prapht hote haian; parantu mahatathv aur ahankar se bhi shreshhth jo shthan haian, unhhean prapht karana chahiye. jo shashtroan ke shvadhhyay mean tathpar hote haian, ve hi prakriti se par, nithy, janhm-mrithyu se rahit, mukht evan sadasathshvaroop paramathma ka jnan prapht karate haian. yudhishthir! yah jnan mujhe poorvakal mean raja janak se mila tha aur janak ko yajnavalhkhy se prapht hua tha. jnan sabase uthtam sadhan hai. yajn isaki samanata nahian kar sakate. jnan se hi manushhy is durgam sansar-sagar se par ho sakata hai; yajnoan dvara nahian. rajanh! jnani purush kahate hai ki bhautik janhm adi mrithyu ko par karana athyanht kathin hai. yajn adi ke dvara bhi manushhy us durgam sankat se par nahian ho sakata. yajn, tap, niyam aur vratoan dvara to log shvargalok mean jate aur punhy kshin hone par phir is prithhvi par gir p date haian. isaliye tum prakriti se par, mahath, pavitr, kalhyanamay, nirmal, shuddh tatha mokshashvaroop brahma ki upasana karo. prithhvinath! kshetr ko janakar aur jnanayajn ka ashray lekar tum nishhchay hi tathvajnani rrishi ban jaoge. poorvakal mean yajnavalhkhy muni ne raja janak ko kis upanishadh (jnan) ka upadesh diya tha, usaka manan karane se manushhy poorvakathit sanatan avinashi, shubh, amritamay tatha shokarahit par brahma paramathma ko prapht ho jata hai. is prakar shri mahabharat shanti parv ke antargat mokshadharm parv yajnavalky aur janak ka sanvad ki samaptivishayak tin sau atharahavaan adhyay poora hua.
