brihaspati ka yudhishthir se praniyoan ke janm ke prakar ka aur nanavidh papoan ke phalasvaroop narakadi ki prapti evan tiryagyoniyoan mean janm lene ka varnan

yudhishthir ne kaha- sampoorn shastroan ke jnan mean nipun mahaprajn pitamah! ab maian manushyoan ki sansar yatra ke nirvah ki uttam vidhi sunana chahata hooan. rojandr! prithvi par rahane vale manushy kis bartav se uttam svargalok ko pate haian? aur nareshh‍var! kaisa bartav karane se ve narak mean p date haian? log apane mrit sharir ko kath aur mitti ke dhele ke saman chho dakar jab yahaan se paralok ki rah lete haian, us samay unake pichhe kaun jata hai.

bhishm ji ne kaha- vats! ye udar buddhi bhagavan brihaspati ji yahaan padhar rahe haian. inhian mahabhag se is sanatan goodh vishay ko poochho. aj doosara koee is vishay ka pratipadan nahian kar sakata. brihaspati ji ke saman vakta doosara koee kahian bhi nahian hai.

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! kuntiputr yudhishthir aur ganganandan bhishm, in donoan mean is prakar bat ho rahi thi ki vishuddh antahkaran vale brihaspati ji svargalok se vahaan a pahuanche. unhean dekhate hi raja yudhishthir dhritarashtr ko age karake kh de ho gaye. phir unhoanne tatha un sabhi sabhasadoan ne brihaspati ji ki anupam pooja ki. tadanantar dharmaputr raja yudhishthir ne bhagavan brihaspati ji ke samip jakar yathochit riti se yah tatvik prashh‍n upasthit kiya.

yudhishthir ne poochha- bhagavan! ap samh‍poorn dharmoan ke jnata aur sab shastroan ke vidvan ho; atah bataiye, pita, mata, putr, guru, sajatiy sambandhi aur mitr adi mean se manushy ka sachcha sahayak kaun hai? sab log apane mare hue sharir ko kath aur dhele ke saman tyag kar chale jate haian, tab is jiv ke sath paralok mean kaun jata hai?

brihaspati ji ne kaha- rajan! prani akela hi janm leta aur akela hi marata, akela hi duahkh se par hota tatha akela hi durgati bhogata hai. pita, mata, bhaee, putr, guru, jatiy sambandhi tatha mitravar- ye koee bhi usake sahayak nahian hote. log usake mare hue sharir ko kath aur mitti ke dhele ki tarah pheank kar do gh di rote haian aur phir usaki or se muanh pherakar chal dete haian. ve kutambijan to usake sharir ka parityag karake chale jate haian, kiantu ek matr dharm hi us jivatma ka anusharan karata hai; isaliye dharm hi sachcha sahayak hai. atah manushyoan ko sada dharm ka hi sevan karana chahiye.

dharmayukt prani hi uttam svarg mean jata hai aur adharm parayan jiv narak mean p data hai. isaliye vidvan purush ko chahiye ki nyay se prapt hue dhan ke dvara dharm ka anushthan kare. ek matr dharm hi paralok mean manushyoan ka sahayak hai. jo bahushrut nahian hai, vahi manushy lobh or moh ke vashibhoot ho doosare ke liye lobh, moh, daya athava bhay se n karane yogy papakarm kar baithata hai. dharm, arth aur kam- ye tin jivan ke phal haian, atah manushy ko adharm ke tyagapoorvak in tinoan ko upalabdh karana chahiye.
