ashma rrishi aur janak ke sanvad dvara prarabdh ki prabalata batalate hue vyas ji ka yudhishthir ko samajhana

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! bhaee-bandhuoan ke shok se santat ho apane pranoan ko tyag dene ki ichchha vale jyeshth pandav yudhishthir ke shok ko maharshi vyas ne is prakar door kiya.

vyas ji bole - purushasianh yudhishthir! is prasang mean janakar log ashma brahman ke git sambandhi is prachin itihas ka udaharan diya karate haian, ise suno. ek samay ki bat hai, duahkh-shok mean doobe hue videharaj janak ne jnani brahman ashma se apane man ka sandeh is prakar poochha.

janak bole- brahmanh! kutumbijan aur dhan ki utpatti ya vinash hone par kalyan chahane vale purush ko kaisa nishchay karana chahiye?

ashma ne kaha- rajanh! manushy ka yah sharir jab janm grahan karata hai, tab usake sath hi sukh aur duahkh bhi usake pichhe lag jate haian. in donoan mean se ek n ek ki prapti to hoti hi hai; atah jo bhi sukh ya duahkh upasthit hota hai, vahi manushy ke jnan ko usi prakar har leta hai, jaise hava badal ko u da le jati hai. isi se 'maian kulin hooan, siddh hooan aur koee sadharan manushy nahian hooan’ ye aanhakar ki tin dharaean manushy ke chitt ko sianchane lagati haian. phir vah manushy bhogoan mean asaktachitt hokar kramashah bap-dadoan ki rakhi huee kamaee ko u dakar kangal ho jata hai aur doosaroan ke dhan ko h dap lena achchha manane lagata hai. jaise vyadhe apane banoan dvara mrigoan ko age badhane se rokate haian, usi prakar maryada laanghakar anuchit roop se doosaroan ke dhan ka apaharan karane vale us manushy ko raja log dand dvara vaise kumarg par chalane se rokate haian.

rajanh! jo bis ya tis varsh ki umr vale manushy chori adi kukarmoan mean lag jate haian, ve sau varsh tak jivit nahian rah pate. jahaan-tahaan samast praniyoan ke duahkhad bartav se un par jo kuchh bitata hai, use dekhata hua manushy daridrata se prapt hone vale un mahanh duahkhoan ka nivaran karane ke liye buddhi ke dvara aushadh kare (arthath vichar dvara apane apako kumarg par jane se roke). manushyoan ko bar-bar manasik duahkhoan ki prapti ke karan do hi haian- chitt ka bhram aur anisht ki prapti. tisara koee karan sambhav nahian hai. is prakar manushy ko inhian do karanoan se bhinn-bhinn prakar ke duahkh prapt hote haian. vishayoan ki asakti se bhi ye duahkh prapt hote haian. budhapa aur mrityu- ye donoan do bhe diyoan ke saman haian, jo balavanh, durbal, chhote aur b de sabhi praniyoan ko kha jate haian. koee bhi manushy kabhi budhape aur maut ko laangh nahian sakata. bhale hi vah samudraparyant is sari prithvi par vijay pa chuka ho. praniyoan ke nikat jo sukh ya duahkh upasthit hota hai, vah sab unhean vivash hokar sahana hi p data hai, kyoanki usake talane ka koee upay nahian hai.

nareshvar! poorvavastha, madhyavastha athava uttaravastha mean kabhi n kabhi ve klesh anivary roop se prapt hote hi haian, jinhean manushy unake viparit roop mean chahata hai (arthath sukh hi sukh ki ichchha karata hai; parantu use kasht bhi prapt hote hi haian). apriy vastuoan ke sath sanyog, atyant priy vastuoan ka viyog, arth, anarth, sukh aur duahkh- in sabaki prapti prarabdh ke vidhan ke anusar hoti hai.
