sh‍vaph‍n aur sushupti-avash‍tha mean man ki sthiti tatha gunatit brahm ki prapti ka upay

bhishh‍m ji kahate haian- rajan! sada nishh‍kalank brahmachary vrat ka palan karane ki ichh‍chha rakhane vale purush ko sh‍vaph‍n ke doshoan par drishti rakhate hue sab prakar se nidra ka parith‍yag kar dena chahiye. sh‍vaph‍n mean jiv ko pray: rajogun aur tamogun daba lete haian. vah kamanayukh‍t hokar doosare sharir ko praph‍t hue ki bhaanti vicharata hai. manushh‍y mean pahale to jnan ka abhh‍yas karane se jagane ki adat hoti hai, tath‍pashh‍chat vichar karane ke liye jagana anivary ho jata hai tatha jo tattv jnan praph‍t kar leta hai, vah to brahm mean niranh‍tar jagata hi rahata hai. yahaan poorv paksh yah prashh‍n uthata hai ki sh‍vaph‍n mean jo yah dehadi padarth dikhayi deta hai, kh‍ya hai? (sath‍y hai ya asath‍y? yadi kahean ki sath‍y hai to thik nahian; kh‍yoanki) sh‍vaph‍navash‍tha mean sab kuchh vishayoan se samh‍panh‍n-sa dikhayi dene par bhi vash‍tav mean vahaan koee vishay nahi hota, sari indriyaan us samay man mean vilin ho jati haian. unh‍hian indriyoan se dehabhimani jiv dehadhari jaisa bartav karata hai. aur yadi kahean ki sh‍vaph‍n ke padarth asath‍y haian to yah bhi thik nahian; kh‍yoanki jo sarvatha asath hai, (jaise akash ka pushh‍p) usaki pratiti hi nahian hoti. ab yahaan siddhanh‍t ka pratipadan kiya jata hai. yah sh‍vaph‍n jagat jaisa hai, use thik-thik yogeshh‍var shrihari hi janate haian; par jaisa shrihari janate haian, vaisa hi maharshi bhi usaka varnan karate haian, unaka yah varnan yukti sangat bhi hai. vidvanh maharshiyoan ka kahana hai ki jagrath avash‍tha mean niranh‍tar shabh‍d adi vishayoan ko grahan karate-karate shrotr adi indiyaan jab thak jati haian, tab sabhi praniyoan ke anubhav mean ane vala sh‍vaph‍n dikhayi dene lagata hai.

us samay indriyoan ke lay hone par bhi man ka lay nahian hota hai; isaliye vah samash‍t vishayoan ka jo man se anubhav karata hai, vahi sh‍vaph‍n kahalata hai. is vishay mean prasiddh drishtanh‍t bataya jata hai. jaise jagrat avash‍tha mean vibhinh‍n karyoan mean asakh‍t chith‍t hue manushh‍y ke sankalh‍p manorajh‍y ki hi vibhooti haian, usi prakar sh‍vaph‍n ke bhav bhi man se hi samh‍banh‍dh rakhate haian. kamanaoan mean jisaka man asakh‍t hai, vah purush sh‍vaph‍n mean asankhh‍y sansh‍karoan ke anusar anek drishh‍yoan ko dekhata hai. ve samash‍t sansh‍kar usake man mean hi chhipe rahate haian, jinh‍hean vah sarvashreshth anh‍taryami purush paramath‍ma janata hai. karmoan ke anusar sath‍vadi gunoan mean se yadi yah sath‍v, raj ya tam jo koee bhi gun praph‍t hota hai, usase man par jab jaise sansh‍kar p date haian athava jab jis karm se man bhavit hota hai, us samay sookshh‍mabhoot sh‍vaph‍n mean vaise hi akar prakat kar dete haian. us sh‍vaph‍n ka darshan hote hi sattvik,rajas athava tamas gun yathayogh‍y sukh-du:kharoop phal ka anubhav karane ke liye usake pas a pahuanchate haian. tadananh‍tar manushh‍y sh‍vaph‍n mean ajnanavash vat, pith‍t ya kaph ki pradhanata se yukh‍t tatha kam, moh adi rajas, tamas bhavoan se vh‍yaph‍t nana prakar ke shariroan ka darshan karate haian. tath‍vajnan hue bina us sh‍vaph‍nadarshan ko laanghana ath‍yanh‍t kathin bataya gaya hai.
