vyas ji ka yudhishthir ko raja hayagriv ka charitr sunakar unhean rajochit kartavy ka palan karane ke liye jor dena

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! shrikrishn dvaipayan maharshi vyas ji ne ajat shatru kuntikumar yudhishthir se punah is prakar kaha- 'tat! maharaj yudhishthir! van mean rahate samay tumhare manasvi bhaiyoan ke man mean jo-jo manorath utpann hue the, bharatashreshth! unhean ye maharathi vir prapt karean. kuntinandan! tum nahushaputr yayati ke saman is prithvi ka palan karo. tumhare in tapasvi bhaiyoan ne vanavas ke samay b de duahkh uthaye haian. naravyaghr! ab ye us duahkh ke bad sukh ka anubhav karean. bharatanandan! prajanath! is samay bhaiyoan ke sath tum dharm, arth aur kam ka upabhog karo. pichhe van mean chale jana. bharatanandan! kuntikumar! pahale yachaka, pitaroan aur devataoan ke rrin se urrin ho lo, phir vah sab karana. kurunandan! maharaj! pahale sarvamegh aur ashvamedh yajnoan ka anushthan karo. usase param gati ko prapt karoge. panduputr! apane samast bhaiyoan ko bahut-si dakshina vale yajnoan me lagakar tum anupam kirti prapt kar loge.

kurushreshth! purushasianh nareshvar! maian to tumhari bat samajhata hooan. ab tum mera yah vachan suno, jisake anusar kary karane par dharm se chyut nahian hooge. raja yudhishthir! visham bhav se rahit dharm mean kushal purush vijay pane ki ichchha vale raja ke liye sangram ki sthapana karate haian. bharatanandan! pratyaksh, anuman, upaman, agam, arthapatti aitihy, sanshay, nirnay, akriti, sanket, gati, cheshta, pratijna, hetu, udaharan, upanay aur nigaman- in sabaka prayojan hai pramey ki siddhi. bahut se vargoan ki prasiddhi ke liye in sabako sadhan bataya gaya hai. inamean se pratyaksh aur anuman ye do sabhi ke liye nirnay ke adhar mane gaye haian. pratyaksh adi pramanoan ko janane vala purush dandaniti mean kushal ho sakata hai. jo pramanashoony haian, unake dvara prayog mean laya hua dand raja ka vinash kar sakata hai. desh aur kal ki pratiksha karane vala jo raja shastriy buddhi ka ashray le luteroan ke aparadh ko dhairyapoorvak sahan karata hai arthath unako dand dene mean jaldi nahian karata, samay ki pratiksha karata hai, vah pap se lipt nahian hota.

jo praja ki ay ka chhatha bhag kar ke roop mean lekar bhi rashtr ki raksha nahian karata hai, vah raja usake chauthaee pap ko mano grahan kar leta hai. meri vah bat suno, jisake aunasar chalane vala raja dharm se niche nahian girata. dharm shastroan ki ajna ka ullanghan karane se raja ka patan ho jata hai aur yadi dharmashastr ka anusaran karata hai to vah nirbhay hota hai. jo kam aur krodh ki avahelana karake shastriy vidhi ka ashray le sarvatr pita ke saman samadrishti rakhata hai, vah kabhi pap se lipt nahian hota. mahatejasvi yudhishthir! daiv ka mara hua raja kary karane ke samay jis kary ko nahian siddh kar pata, usamean usaka koee dosh ya aparadh nahian bataya jata hai. shatruoan ko apane bal aur buddhi se kaboo mean kar hi lena chahiye. papiyoan ke sath kabhi mel nahian karana chahiye. yudhishthir! shooraviroan, shreshth purushoan tatha vidvanoan ka satkar karana bahut avashyak hai. adhik se adhik gauean rakhane vale dhani vaishyoan ki vishesh roop se raksha karani chahiye.'
