sanatsujataji ke dvara dhritarashh‍tr ke vividh prashh‍noan ka uttar

  • vaishampayanaji kahate haian- janamejay! tadanantar buddhiman evan mahamana raja dhritarashh‍tr ne vidur ke kahe hue us vachan ka bhali-bhaanti adar karake utkrishh‍t jnan ki ichchha se ekant mean sanatsujat muni se prashh‍‍n kiya. (1)
  • dhritarashh‍tr bole- sanatsujataji! maian yah suna karata hooan ki mrityu hai hi nahian, aisa apaka siddhant hai. sath hi yah bhi suna hai ki devata aur asuroan ne mrityu se bachane ke liye brahmachary ka palan kiya tha. in donoan mean kaun-si bat yatha‍rth hai? (2)
  • sanatsujat ne kaha- rajan! is vishay mean do paksh haian mrityu hai aur vah brahmachary palanaroop karm se door hoti hai- yah ek paksh hai aur ‘mrityu hai hi nahian'- yah doosara paksh hai. parantu yah bat jaisi hai, vah maian tumhean batata hooan, suno aur mere kathan mean sandeh n karana. (3)
  • kshatriy! is prashh‍n ke ukt donoan hi pahaluoan ko saty samajho. kuchh vidvanoan ne mohavash is mrityu ki satta svikar ki hai; kiantu mera kahana to yah hai ki pramad hi mrityu hai aur apramad hi amrit hai. (4)
  • pramad ke hi karan asuragan [1] mrityu se parajit hue aur apramad se hi devagan [2] brahmasvaroop hue. yah nishchay hai ki mrityu vyaghr ke saman praniyoan ka bhakshan nahian karati, kyoanki usaka koee roop dekhane mean nahian ata. (5)
  • kuchh log is pramad se bhinn ‘yam’ ko mrityu kahate haian aur hriday se dridhatapoorvak palan kiye hue brahmachary ko hi amrit manate haian. yamadev pitrilok mean rajy-shasan karate haian. ve punh‍yatmaoan ke liye mangalamay aur papiyoan ke liye amangalamay haian. (6)
  • in yam ki ajna se hi krodh, pramad aur lobharoopi mrityu manushh‍yoan ke vinash mean pravritt hoti haian. ahankar ke vashibhoot hokar viparit marg par chalata hua koee bhi manushh‍y paramatma ka sakshatkar nahian kar pata. (7)
  • manushh‍y (krodh, pramad aur lobh se) mohit hokar ahankar ke adhin ho is lok se jakar pun: pun: janm-maran ke chakkar mean p date haian. marane ke bad unake man, indriy aur pran bhi sath jate haian. sharir se pranaroopi indriyoan ka viyog hone ke karan mrityu ‘maran’ sanjna ko prapt hoti hai. (8)
  • prarabdh karm ka uday hone par karm ke phal mean asakti rakhane vale log[3] paralok ka anugaman karate haian; isiliye ve mrityu ko par nahian kar pate. dehabhimani jiv paramatma sakshatkar ke upay ko n janane se vishayoan ke upabhog ke karan sab or[4] bhatakata rahata hai. (9)
  • is prakar vishayoan ka jo bhog hai, vah avashh‍y hi indriyoan ko mahan moh mean dalane vala hai aur in jhoothe vishayoan mean rag rakhane vale manushh‍y ki unaki or pravritti honi svabhavik hai. mithh‍ya bhogoan mean asakti hone se jisake ant:karan ki jnan shakti nashh‍t ho gayi hai, vah sab or vishayoan ka hi chintan karata hua man-hi-man unaka asvadan karata hai. (10)
  • pahale to vishayoan ka chintan hi logoan ko mare dalata hai. isake bad vah kam aur krodh ko sath lekar pun: jaldi hi prahar karata hai. is prakar ye vishay-chintan (kam aur krodh) hi vivek hin manushh‍yoan ko mrityu ke nikat pahuanchate haian; parantu jo sthir buddhi vale purush haian, ve dhairy se mrityu ke par ho jate haian.
