matang ki tapasya aur indr ka use varadan dena

bhishm ji kahate haian- yudhishthir! indr ke aisa kahane par matang apane man ko aur bhi dridh aur sanyamashil banakar ek hazar varshoan tak ek pair se dhyan lagaye kh da raha. jab ek hazar varsh poore hone mean kuchh hi baki tha, us samay bal aur vritrasur ke shatru devaraj indr phir matang ko dekhane liye aye aur punah usase unhoanne pahale ki kahi huee bat hi duharayi. matang ne kaha- devaraj! maianne brahmachary-palanapoorvak ekagrachitt ho ek hazar varshoan tak ek pair se kh da hokar tap kiya hai. phir mujhe brahmanatv kaise nahian prapt ho sakata?

indr ne kaha- matang! chandal ki yoni mean janm lene vale ko kisi tarah brahmanatv nahian mil sakata; isaliye tum doosari koee abhisht vastu maang lo. jisase tumhara yah parishram vyarth n jaye.

unake aisa kahane par matang atyant shokamagn ho gaya mean jakar aanguthe ke bal par sau varshoan tak kh da raha. usane durdhar yog ka anushthan kiya. usaka sara sharir atyant durbal ho gaya. nas-na diyaan ugh d ayian. dharmatma matang ka sharir cham de se dhaki huee haddiyoan ka dhaancha matr rah gaya. us avastha mean apane ko n sanbhal sakane ke karan vah gir p da, yah bat hamare sunane mean ayi hai. use girate dekh sampoorn bhootoan ke hit mean tatpar rahane vale var dene mean samarth indr ne dau dakar pak d liya. indr ne kaha- matang! is janm mean tumharean liye brahmanatv ki prapti asambhav dikhayi deti hai. brahmanatv atyant durlabh hai; sath hi vah kam-krodh adi luteroan se ghira hua hai. jo brahman ka adar karata hai, vah sukh pata hai aur jo anadar karata hai, vah duahkh pata hai. brahman samast praniyoan ko yogakshem ki prapti karane vala hai.

matang! brahmanoan ke tript hone se hi devata aur pitar bhi tript hote haian. brahman ko samast praniyoan mean sarvashreshth kaha jata hai. brahman jo-jo jis prakar karana chahata hai, apane tap ke prabhav se vaisa hi kar sakata hai. tat! jiv is jagat ke bhitar anek yoniyoan mean bhraman karata hua baranbar janm leta hai. isi tarah janm lete-lete kabhi kisi samay mean vah brahmanatv ko prapt kar leta hai. atah jinaka man apane vash mean nahian hai, aise logoan ke liye sarvatha dushprapy brahmanatv ko pane ka agrah chho dakar tum koee doosara hi var maango. yah var to tumhare liye durlabh hi hai.

matang ne kaha- devaraj! maian to yoan hi duahkh se atur ho raha hooan, phir tum bhi kyoan mujhe pi da de rahe ho? mujh mare hue ko kyoan marate ho? maian to tumhare liye shok karata hooan, jo janm se hi brahmanatv ko pakar bhi tum use apana nahian rahe ho. shatakrato! yadi kshatriy adi tin varnean ke liye brahmanatv durlabh hai to us param durlabh brahmanatv ko pakar bhi manushy brahmanochit sham-dam ka anushthan nahian karate haian. yah kitane duahkh ki bat hai. vah papiyoan se bhi badhakar atyant papi aur unamean bhi adham hi hai, jo durlabh dhan ki bhaanti brahmanatv ko pakar bhi usake mahattv ko nahian samajhata hai. pahale to brahmanatv ka prapt hona hi kathin hai, yadi vah prapt ho jaye to usaka palan karana aur bhi kathin ho jata hai; kiantu bahut-se manushy is durlabh vastu ko pakar bhi tadanukool acharan nahian karate haian.
