yudhishthir ke dvara dhan ke tyag ki hi mahatta ka pratipadan

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! isi prasang mean udar buddhi raja yudhishthir ne arjun se yah yukti yukt bat kahi- 'parth! tum jo yah samajhate ho ki dhan se badhakar koee vastu nahian hai tatha nirdhan ko svarg, sukh aur arth ki bhi prapti nahian ho sakati, yah thik nahian hai. bahut se manushy keval svadhyay yajn karake siddhi ko prapt hue dekhe jate haian. tapasya mean lage hue bahutere muni aise ho gaye haian, jinhean sanatan lokoan ki prapti huee hai. dhananjay! sampoorn dharmoan ko janane vale jo log brahmachary ashram mean sthit ho rrishiyoan ki svadhyay-parampara ki sadaiv raksha karate haian, devata unhean hi brahman manate haian. arjun! tumhean sada yah samajhana chahiye ki rrishiyoan mean se kuchh log ved-shastroan ke svadhyay mean hi tatpar rahate haian, kuchh jnanoparjan mean sanlagn hote haian aur kuchh log dharm palan mean hi nishtha rakhate haian. pandunandan! prabho! vanaprasthoan ke vachan ko jaisa hamane samajha hai, usake anusar jnananishth mahatmaoan ko hi rajy ke sare kary sauanpane chahiye.

bharat! aj, prishni, sikat, arun aur ketu nam vale rrishiganoan ne to svadhyay ke dvara hi svarg prapt kar liya tha. dhananjay! dan, adhyayan, yajn aur nigrah- ye sabhi karm bahut kathin haian. in vedokt karmoan ka (sakam bhav se) ashray lekar log soory ke dakshin marg se svarg mean jate haian. in karmamargi purushoan ke lokoan ki charcha maian pahale bhi kar chuka hooan. kuntinandan! soory ke uttar mean sthit jo marg hai, jise tum niyam ke prabhav se dekh rahe ho, vahaan jo ye sanatan lok prakashit hote haian, ve nishkam yajn karane valoan ko prapt hote haian. parth! prachin itihas ko janane vale log in donoan margoan mean se uttar marg ki prashansa karate haian. vastav mean santosh hi sabase badhakar svarg hai aur santosh hi sabase b da sukh hai. santosh se badhakar kuchh nahian hai. jisane krodh aur harsh ko jit liya hai, usi ke hriday mean us param vairagyaroop santosh ki samyakh pratishtha hoti hai aur use hi sada uttam siddhi prapt hoti hai.

is prasang mean log raja yayati ki gayi huee in gathaoan ko udaharan ke taur par kaha karate haian. jinake dvara manushy sampoorn kamanaoan ko usi prakar samet liya karata hai. raja yayati ne kaha tha- "jab yah purush kisi se nahian darata, jab isase bhi kisi ko bhay nahian rahata tatha jab yah n to kisi ko chahata hai aur n usase dvesh hi rakhata hai, tab brahm bhav ko prapt ho jata hai. jab yah man, vani aur kriya dvara sampoorn bhootoan ke prati pap-buddhi ka parityag kar deta hai, tab parabrahm paramatma ko prapt kar leta hai." jisake man aur moh door ho gaye haian, jo nana prakar ki asaktiyoan se rahit hai tatha jise atma ka jnan prapt ho gaya hai, us sadhu purush ko moksh ki prapti ho jati hai,. kuantinandan! maian jo bat kah raha hooan, use apani sampoorn indriyoan ko sanyam mean rakhakar suno! kuchh log dharm ki, koee sadachar ki aur doosare kitane hi manushy dhan ki prapti ke liye sachesht rahate haian.'
