dhritarashtr ke poochhane par sanjay ke dvara bhoomi ke mahattv ka varnan vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! buddhiman raja dhritarashhtr se aisa kahakar maharshi vhyas ji chale gaye. dhritarashtr bhi unake poorvokht vachan sunakar kuchh kal tak un par soch-vichar karate rahe. bharatashreshth! do gh di tak sochane-vicharane ke pashchat baranbar lamhbi saans khianchate hue unhhoanne vishuddh hriday vale sanjay se poochha- ‘sanjay! prithhvi ka palan karane vale ye shooravir naresh is bhoomi ke liye hi apana jivan nichhavar karake yuddh ka abhinandan karate aur chhote-bade़ astr-shastroan dvara ek doosare par ghatak prahar karate haian. is bhootal ke aishvary ko shvayan hi chahate hue ve ek doosare ko sahan nahian kar pate haian. parashpar prahar karate hue yamalok ki janasankhhya badhate haian, parantu shaant nahian hote haian. at: maian aisa manata hooan ki yah bhoomi bahusankhhyak gunoan se vibhooshit hai. isaliye sanjay! tum mujhase is bhoomi ke gunoan ka hi varnan karo. kurukshetr is jagath ke kee hajar, lakh, karo d aur araboan vir ekatr hue haian. sanjay! ye log jahaan-jahaan se aye haian, un deshoan aur nagaroan ka yatharth parinam maian tumase janana chahata hooan. khyoanki tum amit tejashvi brahmarshi vhyas ji ke prabhav se divhy buddhiroopi pradip se prakashit jnanadrishti se samhpanhn ho gaye ho’. sanjay ne kaha- mahaprajn! maian apani buddhi ke anusar apase is bhoomi ke gunoan ka varnan karooanga. bharatashreshth! apako namashkar hai; ap shashtradrishti se is vishay ko dekhiye aur samajhiye. rajanh! is prithhvi par do tarah ke prani upalabhdh haian- shthavar aur jangam. jangam praniyoan ki uthpatti ke tin shthan haian- anhdaj, shvedaj aur jarayuj. rajanh! samhpoorn jangam jivoan mean jarayuj shreshhth mane gaye haian, jarayujoan mean bhi manushhy aur pashu uttam haian. ve nana prakar ki akriti vale hote haian. rajanh! unake chaudah bhed haian, jo vedoan mean bataye gaye haian. bhoopal! unhian mean yajnoan ki pratijna haian. gramavasi pashu aur manushhyoan mean manushhy shreshhth haian aur vanavasi pashuoan mean sianh shreshhth haian. samast praniyoan ka jivan-nirvah ek doosare ke sahayog se hota hai. sthavaroan ko udgij kahate haian. unaki paanch hi jatiyaan haian- vriksh, gulm, lata, valli aur tvaksar (baans adi). ye sab trinavarg ki jatiyaan haian. ye sthavar-jangamaroop unnis prani haian. inake sath paanch mahabhootoan ko gin lene par inaki sankhhya chaubis ho jati hai. gayatri ke bhi chaubis hi akshar hote haian. isaliye in chaubis bhootoan ko bhi lokasammat gayatri kaha gaya hai. bharatashreshhth! jo lok mean sthit is sarvagunasampann punhyamayi gayatri ko yathartharoop se janata hai, vah kabhi nashht nahian hota. nareshvar! uparyukt chaudah prakar ke jarayuj praniyoan ne vanavasi pashu sat haian aur gramavasi bhi sat hi haian. sianh, vyaghr, varah, mahish, gaj, richh aur vanar- ye sat vanavasi pashu mane gaye haian. gay, bakari, bhe d, manushhy, ghode़, khachchar aur gadhhe- in sat pashuoan ko sadhu purushoan ne gramavasi bataya haian. rajanh! is prakar ye gramavasi aur vanavasi milakar kul chaudah pashu kahe gaye haian. sab kuchh is bhoomi par hi utpann hota hai aur bhoomi mean hi vilin hota hai. bhoomi hi sab praniyoan ki pratishhtha aur bhoomi hi sab ka param ashray hai. jisake adhikar mean bhoomi hai, usi ke adhikar mean sampoorn charachar jagath hai, isiliye bhoomi ke prati asakti rakhane vale raja log ek-doosare ko marate haian. is prakar shrimahabharat bhishhmaparv ke antargat ambookhanhdavinirman mean bhoomigunavarnan vishayak chautha adhhyay poora hua.
