bhishh‍m ji ne kaha- rajan! prachin kal mean raja vichakhh‍nu ne samash‍t praniyoan par daya karane ke liye jo udagar prakat kiya tha, us prachin itihas ka is prasang mean janakar manushh‍y udaharan diya karate haian. ek samay kisi yajnashala mean raja ne dekha ki ek bail ki garadan kati huee hai aur vahaan bahut-si gauean artanad kar rahi haian. yajnashala ke praangan mean kitani hi gauean kh di haian. yah sab dekhakar raja bole-‘sansar mean samash‍t gauoan ka kalh‍yan ho.’ jab hiansa aramh‍bh hone ja rahi thi, us samay unh‍hoanne gauoan ke liye yah shubh kamana prakat ki aur us hiansa ka nishedh karate hue kaha- jo dharm ki maryada se bhrashh‍t ho chuke haian, moorkh haian, nastik haian tatha jinh‍hean ath‍ma ke vishay mean sandeh hai evan jinaki kahian prasiddhi nahian hai, aise logoan ne hi hiansa ka samarthan kiya hai. dharmath‍ma manu ne samh‍poorn karmoan mean ahiansa ka hi pratipadan kiya hai.

manushh‍y apani hi ichh‍chha se yajn ki bahy vedi par pashuoan ka balidan karate haian. at: vijn purush ko uchit hai ki vah vaidik praman se dharm ke sookshh‍m sh‍varoop ka nirnay kare. samh‍poorn bhootoan ke liye jin dharmoan ka vidhan kiya gaya hai, unamean ahiansa hi sabase b di mani gayi hai. upavasapoorvak kathor niyamoan ka palan karean. ved ki phal shrutiyoan ka parith‍yag kar dean arthat kamh‍y karmoan ko chho d dean, sakam karmoan ke acharan ko anachar samajhakar unamean pravrit n ho. kripan (kshudr) manushh‍y phal ki ichh‍chha se karm karate haian. yadi kahean ki manushh‍y yoop nirman ke uddeshh‍y se jo vriksh katate aur yajn ke uddeshh‍y se pashubali dekar jo maans khate haian, vah vh‍yarth nahian hai. apitu dharm hi hai to y‍h thik nahian; kh‍yoanki aise dharm ki koee prashansa nahian karate. sura, asav, madhu, maans aur machhali tatha til aur chaval ki khich d़i– in sab vash‍tuoan ko dhoortoan ne yajn mean prachalit kar diya hai. vedoan mean inake upayog ka vidhan nahian hai. un dhoortoan ne abhiman, moh aur lobh ke vashibhoot hokar un vash‍tuoan ke prati apani yah lolupata hi prakat ki hai. brahman to samh‍poorn yajnoan mean bhagavan vishh‍nu ka hi adarabhav manate haian aur khir tatha phool adi se hi unaki pooja ka vidhan hai. vedoan mean jo yajn-samh‍banh‍dhi vriksh bataye gaye haian, unh‍hian ka yajnoan mean upayog hona chahiye. shuddh achar-vichar vale mahanh sath‍vaguni purush apani vishuddh bhavana se prokshan adi ke dvara uttam sansh‍kar karake jo koee bhi havishh‍y ya naivedy taiyar karate haian, vah sab devataoan ko arpan karane ke yogh‍y hi hota hai.

yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! jo hiansa se ath‍yanh‍t door rahane vala hai, us purush ka sharir aur apattiyaan parash‍par vivad karane lagati haian- apattiyaan sharir ka shoshan karati haian aur sharir apattiyoan ka nash chahata hai; at: sookshh‍m hiansa ke bhay se krishi adi kisi kary ka aramh‍bh n karane vale purush ki sharir yatra ka nirvah kaise hoga?

bhishm ji ne kaha- yudhishthir! karmoan mean is prakar pravrit hona chahiye, jisase sharir ki shakti sarvatha kshin n ho jay, jisase vah mrith‍yu ke adhin n ho jay; kh‍yoanki manushh‍y sharir ke samarth hone par hi dharm ka palan kar sakata hai.
