yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! dan ka patr kaun hota hai? aparichit purush ya bahut dinoan tak apane sath raha purush athava kisi door desh se aya hua manushhy? inamean se kisako dan ka uttam patr samajhana chahiye? bhishhm ji ne kaha- yudhishthir! kitane hi yachakoan ka to yajn, gurudakshina ya kutumhb ka bharan-poshan adi kary hi manorath hota hai aur kinhhian ka uttam maun vrat se rahakar nirvah karana prayojan hota hai. inamean se jo-jo yachak jis kisi vashtu ki yachana kare, un sabake liye yahi kahana chahiye ki ‘ham deange’ (kisi ko nirash nahian karana chahiye). parantu hamane suna hai ki jinake bharan-poshan ka apane oopar bhar hai, us samuday ko kashht diye bina hi data ko dan karana chahiye. jo poshhy varg ko kashht dekar ya bhookhe marakar dan karata hai, vah apane apako niche girata hai. is drishti se vichar karane par jo pahale se parichit nahian hai ya jo chirakal se sath rah chuka hai athava jo door desh se aya hua hai, in tinoan ko hi vidvan purush dan-patr samajhate haian. yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! kisi prani ko pi da n di jaye aur dharm mean bhi badha n ane paye, is prakar dan dena uchit hai; parantu patr ki yatharth pahachan kaise ho? jisase diya hua dan pichhe santap ka karan n bane. bhishhm ji ne kaha- beta! rritvik, purohit, achary, shishy, samhbanhdhi, vidvan aur dosh-drishti se rahit purush- ye sabhi poojaniy aur mananiy haian. inase bhinhn prakar ke tatha bhinhn bartav vale jo log haian, ve sab sathkar ke patr nahian haian, at: ekagrachitt hokar pratidin supatr purushoan ki pariksha karani chahiye. bharat! krodh ka abhav, sathy-bhashan, ahiansa, indriy sanyam, saralata, drohahinata, abhimanashoonhyata, lajhja, sahanashilata, dam aur manonigrah- ye gun jinamean shvabhavat: dikhayi dean aur dharm viruddh kary drishtigochar n hoan, ve hi dan ke uttam patr aur samhman ke adhikari haian. jo purush bahut dinoan tak apane sath raha ho evan jo kahian se tathkal aya ho, vah pahale ka parichit ho ya aparichit, vah dan ka patr aur samhman ka adhikari hai. vedoan ko apramanik manana, shastr ki ajna ka ulhlanghan karana tatha sarvatr avhyavashtha phailana- ye sab apana hi nash karane vale haian. jo brahman apane paandithy ka abhiman karake vhyarth ke tark ka ashray lekar vedoan ki ninhda karata hai, anhvikshiki nirarthak tarkavidya mean anurag rakhata hai, sathpurushoan ki sabha mean kori tark ki batean kahakar vijayi pata, shashtranukool yuktiyoan ka pratipadan nahian karata, jor-jor se halhla machata aur brahmanoan ke prati sada ativad (amaryadit vachan) ka prayog karata hai, jo sab par sandeh karata hai, jo balakoan aur moorkhoan ka-sa vhyavahar karata tatha katuvachan bolata hai, tat! aise manushhy ko ashprishhy samajhana chahiye. vidvan purushoan ne aise purush ko kutta mana hai. jaise kutta bhooankane aur katane ke liye nikat a jata hai, usi prakar vah bahas karane aur shashtroan ka khanhdan karane ke liye idhar-udhar dau data-phirata hai (aisa vhyakti dan ka patr nahian hai). manushhy ko jagat ke vhyavahar par drishti dalani chahieye. dharm aur apane kalhyan ke upayoan par bhi vichar karana chahiye. aisa karane vala manushhy sada hi abhhyudayashil hota hai. jo yajn-yagadi karake devataoan ke rrin se, vedoan ka shvadhhyay karake rrishiyoan ke rrin se, shreshhth putr ki uthpatti tatha shraddh karake pitaroan ke rrin se, dan dekar brahmanoan ke rrin se aur atithhy sathkar karake atithiyoan ke rrin se mukht hota hai tatha kramash: vishuddh aur vinayayukht prayathn se shashtrokht anushhthan karata hai, vah grihashth kabhi dharm se bhrashht nahian hota.
