vrat, tap, upavas, brahmachary tatha atithi seva adi ka vivechan tatha yajnashisht anhn ka bhojan karane vale ko param uthtam gati ki prapti ka kathan yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! vratayukht dvijagan vedokht sakam karmoan ke phal ki ichhchha se havishhyanhn ka bhojan karate haian, unaka yah kary uchit hai ya nahian? bhishhm ji ne kaha- yudhishthir! jo log avaidik vrat ka ashray le havishhyanhn ka bhojan karate haian, ve shvechhchhachari haian aur jo vedokht vratoan mean pravritht ho sakam yajn karate aur usamean khate haian, ve bhi us vrat ke phaloan ke prati lolup kahe jate haian (at: unhhean bhi baranbar is sansar mean ana p data hai.) yudhishthir ne poochha- maharaj! sansar ke sadharan log jo upavas ko hi tap kahate haian, khya vashtav mean yahi tap hai ya doosara. yadi doosara hai to us tap ka khya shvaroop hai? bhishhm ji ne kaha- rajan! sadharan jan jo mahine pandrah din upavas karake use tap manate haian, unaka vah kary dharm ke sadhanabhoot sharir ka shoshan karane vala hai; at: shreshth purushoan ke mat mean vah tap nahian hai. unake mat mean to thyag aur vinay hi uthtam tap hai. inaka palan karane vala manushhy nithy upavasi aur sada brahmachari hai. bharatananhdan! thyagi aur vinayi brahman sada muni aur sarvada devata samajha jata hai. vah kutumhb ke sath rahakar bhi niranhtar dharmapalan ki ichhchha rakhe aur nidra tatha alashy ko kabhi pas n ane de. maans kabhi n khay, sada pavitr rahe, vaishhvadev adi yajn se bache hue amritamay anhn ka bhojan tatha devata aur atithiyoan ki pooja kare. use sada yajnashisht anhn ka bhokhta, atithi seva ka vrati, shraddhalu tatha devata aur brahmanoan ka poojak hona chahiye. bhishhm ji ne kaha- yudhishthir! jo pratidin prat:kal ke siva phir sham ko hi bhojan kare aur bich mean kuchh n khay, vah nithy upavas karane vala hota hai. jo dvij keval rritu shnan ke samay hi pathni ke sath samagam karata, sada sathy bolata aur nithy jnan mean sthit rahata hai, vah sada brahmachari hi hota hai. tatha jo kabhi maans n khay, vah amaansahari hota hai. jo nithy dan karane vala hai, vah pavitr mana jata hai. jo din mean kabhi nahian sota, vah sada jagane vala samajha jata hai. yudhishthir! jo sada bharan poshan karane ke yoghy pita-mata adi kutumhbijanoan, sevakoan tatha atithiyoan ke bhojan kar lene par hi khata hai, vah keval amrit bhojan karata hai; aisa samajho. jo atithiyoan ko anhn diye bina shvayan bhi nahian khata, vah atithi priy hai tatha jo devataoan ko anhn diye bina bhojan nahian karata, vah devabhakht hai. jo dvij bhrithyoan aur atithiyoan ke bhojan n karane par shvayan bhi kabhi anhn grahan nahian karata, vah bhojan n karane ke us punhy se shvargalok par vijay pa leta hai. devagan, pitrigan, mata-pita tatha atithiyoan sahit bhrithyavarg se avashisht anhn ko hi jo bhojan karata hai, use vighasashi (yajnashisht anhn ka bhokhta) kahate haian. aise purushoan ko akshay lok prapht hote haian. brahma ji tatha aphsaraoan sahit samasht devata unake ghar par akar unaki parikrama kiya karate haian. jo devataoan aur pitaroan ke sath (arthat unhhean unaka bhag arpan karake) bhojan karate haian, ve is lok mean putr-pautroan ke sath rahakar ananhd bhogate haian aur paralok mean bhi unhhean param uthtam gati prapht hoti haian. is prakar shrimahabharat shantiparv ke anhtargat mokshadharm parv mean amrit bhojan samhbanhdhi vishayak do sau ikhkisavaan adhhyay poora hua .
