vyas ji ka anek yuktiyoan se raja yudhishthir ko samajhana

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! raja yudhishthir ko chupachap shok mean dooba hua dekh dharm ke tattv ko janane vale tapodhan shrikrishnadvaipayan ne kaha.

vyas ji bole- kamalanayan yudhishthir! rajaoan ka dharm prajajanoan ka palan karana hi hai. dharm ka anusaran karane vale logoan ke liye sada dharm hi praman hai. atah rajanh! tum apane bap-dadoan ke rajy ko grahan karake usaka dharmanusar palan karo. tapasya to brahmanoan ka nity dharm hai. yahi ved ka nishchay hai. bharatashreshth! vah sanatan tap brahmanoan ke liye pramanabhoot dharm hai. kshatriy to us sampoorn brahman dharm ki raksha karane vala hi hai. jo manushy vishayasakt hokar svayan shasan-dharm ka ullanghan karata hai, vah lokamaryada ka nash karane vala hai. kshatriy ko chahiye ki apani donoan bhujaoan ke bal se us dharmadrohi ka daman kare. jo moh ke vashibhoot ho pramanabhoot dharm aur usaka pratipadan karane vale shastr ko amany kar de, vah sevak ho ya putr, tapasvi ho ya aur koee; sabhi upayoan se un papiyoan ka daman kare athava unhean nasht kar dale.

isake viparit acharan karane vala raja pap ka bhagi hota hai, jo nasht hote hue dharm ki raksha nahian karata, vah raja dharm ka ghat karane vala hai. pandunandan! tumane to unhian logoan ka sevakoan sahit vadh kiya hai, jo dharm ka nash karane vale the. apane dharm mean sthit rahate hue bhi tum kyoan shok kar rahe ho? kyoanki raja ka kartavy hi hai ki vah dharmadrohiyoan ka vadh kare, supatroan ko dan de aur dharm ke anusar praja ki raksha kare.

yudhishthir bole- sampoorn dharmajnoan mean shreshth tapodhan! apako dharm ke svaroop ka pratyaksh jnan hai. ap jo bat kah rahe haian, usapar mujhe tanik bhi sandeh nahian hai. parantu brahmanh! maianne to is rajy ke liye anek avadhy purushoan ka bhi vadh kara dala hai. mere ve hi karm mujhe jalate aur pakate haian.

vyas ji ne kaha- bharatanandan! jo log mare gaye haian, unake vadh ka uttaradayitv kis par hai? is prashn ko lekar char vikalp ho sakate haian. (1) sabaka prerak eeshvar karta hai? ya (2) vadh karane vala purush karta hai? athava (3) mare jane vale purush ka hath (bina vichare kisi kam ko kar dalane ka duragrahi svabhav) karta hai? aaiva (4) usake prarabdh karm ka phal is roop mean prapt hone ke karan prarabdh hi karta hai?

(1) bharat! yadi prerak eeshvar ko karta mana jay tab to yahi kahana p dega ki eeshvar se prerit hokar hi manushy shubh ya ashubh karm karata hai; atah usaka phal bhi eeshvar ko hi milana chahiye. jaise koee purush van mean kulha di dvara jab kisi vriksh ko katata hai, tab usaka pap kulha di chalane vale purush ko hi lagata hai. kulha di ko kisi prakar nahian lagata. athava yadi kahean ki ‘us kulha di ko grahan karane ke karan chetan purush ko hi us hiansakarm ka phal prapt hoga (j d hone ke karan kulha di ko nahian)’, tab to jisane us shastr ko banaya aur jisane usamean danda lagaya, vah purush hi pradhan prayojak hone ke karan usi ko us karm ka phal milana chahiye. chalane vale purush par usaka koee uttaradayitv nahian hai.
