naradaji ka semal–vriksh ko usaka ahankar dekhakar phatakarana naradaji ne kaha- shalmale! isamean sanshay nahian ki tumhhean apana banhdhu athava mitr manane ke karan hi sarvatragami bhayanak vayudev sada tumhhari raksha karate haian. shalhmale! maloom hota hai, tum vayu ke samane atyant vinamr hokar kahate ho ki ‘maian to apaka hi hooan’ isi se vah sada tumhhari raksha karata hai. maian is bhootal par aise kisi vriksh, parvat ya ghar ko nahian dekhata, jo vayu ke bal se bhaghn n ho jay. mera yahi vishhvas hai ki vayudev sabako to dakar gira skate haian. shalhmale! kuchh aise karan avashhy haian, jinase prerit hokar vayudev nishchit roop se saparivar tumhhari raksha karate haian. nishsandeh isi se yoan hi khade़ rahate ho. semal ne kaha- brahmanh! vayu n to mera mitr hai, n banhdhu hai, n suhridh hi hai. vah brahma bhi nahian hai, jo meri raksha karega. narad! mera tej aur bal vayu se bhi bhanyakar hai. vayu apani pranashakti ke dvara meri atharahavian kala ko bhi nahian pa sakata. jis samay vayu devata vriksh, parvat tatha doosari vashtuoan ko to data-pho data hua mere pas phooanchata hai, us samay maian bal se usaki gati ko rok deta hooan. devarshe! is prakar maianne to d-pho d karane vale vayu ki gati ko anek bar rok diya hai; at: vah kupit ho jay to bhi mujhe usase bhay nahian hai. narad ji ne kaha- shalhmale! is vishay mean tumhhari drishti viparit hai- samajh ulati ho gayi hai, isamean sanshay nahian hai; kyoanki vayu ke bal ke saman kisi bhi prani ka bal nahian hai. vanashpate! inhdr, yam, kuber tatha jal ke shvami varun-ye bhi vayu ke tulhy balashali nahian hai; phir tum jaise sadharan vriksh ki to bat hi khya hai? shalhmale! prani is prithhvi par jo kuchh bhi cheshhta karata hai, us cheshhta ki shakti tatha jivan dene vale sarvatr samarthhyashali bhagavan vayu hi haian. ye jab sharir mean thik dhang se pran adi ke roop mean vishtar ko prapht karate haian, tab samasht praniyoan ko cheshhta shil banate haian aur jab ye thik dhang se kam nahian karate haian, tab praniyoan ke sharir mean vikriti ane lagati hai. is prakar samasht balavanoan mean shreshhth evan poojaniy vayu dev ki jo tum pooja nahian karate ho, yah tumhhari buddhi ki laghuta ke siva aur khya hai. shalhmale! tum sarahin aur durbuddhi ho, keval bahut batean banate ho tatha krodh adi durgunoan se prerit hokar jhooth bolate ho. tumhharean is tarah batachit karane se mere man mean rosh utpann hua hai; at: maian svany vayu ke samane tumhhare in durvachanoan ko sunaooanga. chandan, syandan (tinish), shal, saral, devadaroo, vetas (bet), dhamin tatha anhy jo balavanh vriksh haian, un jitathma vrikshoan ne bhi kabhi is prakar vayu–dev par akshep nahian kiya hai. durbuddhe! ve bhi apane aur vayu ke bal ko achhchhi tarah janate hai; isiliye ve shreshhth vriksh vayudev ke samane mashtak jhuka dete haian. tum to mohavash vayu ke anant bal ko kuchh samajhate hi nahian ho; at: ab maian yahaan se sidhe vayu dev ke hi pas jaooanga. is prakar shrimahabharat shantiparv ke anhtargat apaddharmaparv mean pavan–shalhmalisanvadavishayak ek sau pachapanavaan adhhyay poora hua.
