jo apane shreshth pati ko chho dakar any papi ki shayya par jati hai, us kulata ko atyant vistrit maidan mean khadi़ karake raja kuthtoan se nochava dale. isi tarah vyabhichari purush ko buddhiman raja lohe ki tapayi huee khat par sulakar oopar se lakadi़ rakh de aur ag laga de, jisase vah papi usi mean jalakar bhasm ho jay. maharaj! pati ki avahelana karake par purushoan se vyabhichar karane vali striyoan ke liye bhi yahi danhd hai, uparyukht kahe hue mean jin dushtoan ke liye prayashchit bataya hai, unake liye yah bhi vidhan hai ki ek varsh ke bhitar prayashchit n karane par dusht purush ko doona danhd prapht hona chahiye. jo manushhy do, tin, char ya paanch varshoan tak us patit purush ke sansarg mean rahean, vah munijanochit vrat dharan karake utane hi varshoan tak prithhvi par ghoomata hua bhikshavritti se jivan-nirvah kare. jyeshhth bhaee ka vivah hone se pahale hi yadi chhota bhaee adharmapoorvak vivah kar le to jyeshhth ko ‘parivitti’ kahate haian; chhote bhaee ko ‘parivetta’ kahate haian aur usaki patni ko jisaka parivedan (grahan) kiya jata hai, parivedaniya kahate haian- ye sab-ke-sab patit mane gaye haian. in tinoan ko prithak-prithak apani shuddhi ke liye usi vrat ka acharan karana chahiye jo yajnahin brahman ke liye bataya gaya hai. athava ek mas tak chandrayan ya krichchhrachandrayan vrat kare. parivetta purush us navavadhoo ko patohoo ke roop mean jyeshhth bhaee ko sauanp de aur jyeshhth bhaee ki ajna milane par chhota bhaee use patniroop mean grahan karean. aisa karane par ve tinoan dharm ke anusar pap se chhutakara pate haian. pashu jatiyoan mean gauoan ko chho dakar any kisi ki anajan mean hiansa ho jay to vah doshavah nahian mani jati; kyoanki manushhy ko pashuoan ka adhishthata evan palak mana gaya hai. go vadh karane vala papi us gay ki pooanchh ko is prakar dharan kare ki usaka bal oopar ki or rahe. phir mitti ka patr hath mean lekar pratidin sat gharoan mean bhiksha maange aur apane papakarm ki bat kahakar logoan ko sunata rahe. unhian sat gharoan ki bhiksha mean jo ann mil jay, vahi khakar rahe. aisa karane se vah barah dinoan mean shuddh ho jata hai. yadi pap adhik ho to ek varsh tak us vrat ka anushhthan kare, jisase vah apane pap ko nasht kar deta hai. is prakar manushhyoan ke liye param uthtam prayashchit ka vidhan hai. unamean jo dan karane mean samarth hoan, unake liye dan ki bhi vidhi hai. yah sab prayashchit vichar poorvak karana chahiye. anastik poorooshoan ke liye ek godanamatr hi prayashchit batalaya gaya hai. kuthte, sooar, manushhy, murge aur gadahe ke maans aur mal-mootr kha lene par dvij ka pun: sanskar hona chahiye. somapan karane vala brahman yadi kisi sharabi ki gandh bhi sooangh le to vah tin dinoan tak garam jal pikar rahe, phir tin din garam doodh piye. tin din garam doodh pine ke bad tin din tak keval vayu pikar rahe. isase vah shuddh ho jata hai. is prakar yah sanatan prayashchit sab ke liye bataya gaya hai. brahman ke liye isaka vishesharoop se vidhan hai. anajan mean jo pap ban jay, usi ke liye prayashchit hai. is prakar shrimahabharat shantiparv ke antargat apaddharmaparv mean papoan ke prayashchit ki vidhivishayak ek sau paiansathavaan adhhyay poora hua.
