- manushhy jin-jin vishayoan se man ko hatata jata hai, un-un se usaki mukti hoti jati hai; is prakar yadi sab or se nivritti ho jay to use leshamatr du:kh ka bhi kabhi anubhav nahian hota.(14)
- jo n to shvayan kisi se jita jata, n doosaroan ko jitane ki ichhchha karata hai, n kisi ke sath ver karata aur n doosaroan ko chot pahuanchana chahata hai, jo nianda aur prashansa mean saman bhav rakhata hai, vah harsh-shok se pare ho jata hai.(15)
- jo sabaka kalhyan chahata hai, kisi ke akalhyan ki bat man mean bhi nahian lata, jo sathyavadi, komal or jitendriy hai, vah uttam purush mana gayahai.(16)
- jo jhoothi sanhthvana nahian deta, dene ki pratijna karake de hi deta hai, doosaroan ke doshoan ko janata hai, vah madhhyam shreni ka purush hai. (17)
- jisaka shasan athyant kathor ho, jo anek doshoan se dooshit ho, kalankit ho, jo krodhavash kisi ki buraee karane se nahian hatata ho, doosaroan ke kiye hue upakar ko nahian manata ho, jisaki kisi ke sath mitrata nahian ho tatha jo durathma ho- ye adham purush ke bhed haian.(18)
- jo apane hi oopar sandeh hone ke karan doosaroan se bhi kalhyan hone ka vishhvas nahian karata,mitroan ko bhi door rakhata hai, vah avashhy hi adham purush hai.(19)
- jo apani aishvary vriddhi chahata hai, vah uttam purushoan ki hi seva kare, samay a p dane par madhhyam purushoan ki bhi seva kar le, parantu adham purushoan ki seva kadapi n kare. (20)
- manushhy dusht purushoan ke bal se, nirantar ke udyog se, buddhi se tatha purusharth se dhan bhale hi prapt kar le; parantu isase uttam kulin purushoan ke samman aur sadachar ko vah poornaroop se kadapi nahian prapt kar sakata. (21)
- dhritarashhtr ne kaha- vidur! dharm aur arth ke anushhthan mean parayan evan bahushrut devata bhi uttam kul mean utpann poorushoan ki ichchha karate haian. isilaye maian tumase yah prashhn karata hooan ki mahan (uttam) kulin kaun haian? (22)
- viduraji bole- rajan! jinamean tap, indriy sanyam, vedoan ka svadhhyay, yajn, pavitr vivah, sada annadan aur sadachar- ye sat gun vartaman haian, unhean mahan (uttam) kulin kahate haian. (23)
- jinaka sadachar shithil nahian hota, jo apane doshoan se mata-pita ko kashht nahian pahuanchate, prasann chitt se dharm ka acharan karate haian ttha asaty ka parityag kar apane kul ki vishesh kirti chahate haian, ve hi mahan kulin haian. (24)
- yajn n hone se, nindit kul mean vivah karane se, ved ka tyag aur dharm ka ullaghann karane se uttam kul bhi adham ho jate haian. (25)
- devataoan ke dhan ka nash, brahman ke dhan ka apaharan aur brahmanoan ki maryada ka ullaghann karane se uttam kul bhi adham ho jate haian. (26)
- bharat! brahmanoan ke anadar aur ninda se tatha dharohar rakhi huee vastu ko chhipa lene se achchhe kul bhi nindaniy ho jate haian. (27)
- gauoan, manushhyoan aur dhan se sampann hokar bhi jo kul sadachar se hin haian, ve achchhe kuloan ki ganana mean nahian a sakate. (28)
- thode़ dhan vale kul bhi yadi sadachar se sampann haian to ve achchhe kuloan ki ganana mean a jate haian aur mahan yash prapt karate haian. (29)
