koee ‘tath‍vamh’ athava ram, krishh‍n, shiv adi do aksharoan se hi paramath‍m tath‍v ka jnan praph‍t kar lete haian. koee shh‍lok aur padoan se aankit anh‍y saik doan tatha sahasroan shash‍tr vakh‍yoan se paramath‍ma ke sh‍varoop ko janate haian. jaise bhi ho, bodh hi moksh ka lakshan hai. jisake man mean sanshay bhara hua hai, usake liye n yah lok hai, n paralok hai aur n sukh hi hai. ‘jnan hi moksh ka lakshan hai’-yah vriddh, jnani purushoan ka kathan hai. jab manushh‍y vedoan ke vash‍tavik prayojan ko jan jata hai, tab vah vedavetta manav (karm vidhayak) samash‍t vedoan se usi prakar uparat ho jata hai, jaise manushh‍y davanal se hat jate haian.

pranav se samh‍banh‍dh rakhane vale paramath‍m tath‍v ko yadi tum yuktipoorvak arthat ni:sandeh bhav se samajhana chahate ho, to kora tarkavad chho dakar shruti tatha sh‍mriti ke vachanoan ka ashray lo; kh‍yoanki jo uparyukh‍t sadhan ka ashray nahian leta, usaki buddhi tath‍v ka nishh‍chay karane mean samarth nahian ho sakati. isaliye janane yogh‍y paramath‍m tath‍v ka jnan vedoan ke dvara hi yath‍napoorvak praph‍t karana chahiye; kh‍yoanki vah paramath‍m tath‍v vedasvaroop hai. ved usaka sharir hai. us paramatm tatv ko sahaj bhav se praph‍t karane mean ved hetu hai. yah jivath‍ma sh‍vayan samarth nahian hai; kh‍yoanki vah tath‍v vedy ka bhi vedy hai arthath janane mean b da hi gahan hai. devataoan ki ayu aur karmoan ka shubhashubh phal adi batean ved mean kahi gayi haian. usake anusar hi dehadhariyoan ka prabhav sansar mean prath‍yek yug mean phalit hota hai. at: manushh‍yoan ko indriyoan ki shuddhi ke dvara in vishayabhogoan ko th‍yag dena chahiye. yah indriyoan ki nirmalata aur nirodh se hone vala anashan (vishayoan ka agrahan) divh‍y hota hai. tap se sh‍vargalok mean jane ka saubhagh‍y praph‍t hota hai. dan se bhogoan ki prapti hoti hai. jnan se moksh milata hai, yah janana chahiye tatha tirth sh‍nan se papoan ka kshay ho jata hai.

vaishampayan ji kahate haian- janamejay! markandey ji ke aisa kahane par mahayashash‍vi yudhishthir bole- ‘bhagavanh! ab maian (dan ki) uttam evan pradhan vidhi sunana chahata hooan.

markanh‍dey ji ne kaha- maharaj yudhishthir! tum mujhase jis dan-dharm ko sunana chahate ho, vah gauravayukh‍t hone ke karan mujhe sada hi priy hai. shrutiyoan aur sh‍mritiyoan mean jo dan ke rahash‍y bataye gaye haian, unaka varnan suno- yudhishthir! guruvar ko amavash‍ya ke yog mean pipal ke vriksh ki chhaya ko gajachh‍chhaya-parv kahate haian. gajachh‍chhaya mean jahaan pipal ke pattoan ki hava lagati ho, us pradesh mean jal ke samip jo shraddh kiya jata hai, vah ek lakh kalh‍poan tak nashh‍t nahian hota. jo jivika ke liye raandha hua ann ka dan karata hai, vah sh‍vargalok mean pratishthit hota hai. jo ashray ki khoj karane vale rahagir-atithi ko thaharane ke liye jagah de, vah samh‍poorn yajnoan ka anushh‍than poorn kar leta hai.
