dharm, adharm, vairagh‍y aur moksh ke vishay mean yudhishthir ke char prashh‍n aur unaka uttar

yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! manushh‍y papath‍ma kaise ho jata hai? vah dharm ka acharan kis prakar karata hai? kis hetu se use vairagh‍y praph‍t hota hai aur kis sadhan se vah moksh pata hai?

bhishh‍m ji ne kaha- rajanh! tumh‍hean sab dharmoan ka jnan hai. tum to lokamaryada ki raksha tatha meri pratishtha badhane ke liye mujhase prashh‍n kar rahe ho. achh‍chha ab tum moksh, vairagh‍y, pap aur dharm ka mool kh‍ya hai, isako shravan karoan. bharatashreshth! manushh‍y ko (shabh‍d, sh‍parsh, roop, ras evan ganh‍dh-in ) paanchoan vishayoan ka anubhav karane ke liye pahale ichh‍chha hoti hai. phir un vishayoan mean se kisi ek ko pakar usake prati rag ya dvesh ho jata hai. tath‍pashh‍chat jisake prati rag hota hai, use pane ke liye vah prayath‍n karata hai. b de-b de karyoan ka aramh‍bh karata hai. vah apane ichchhit roop aur ganh‍dh adi ka baranbar sevan karana chahata hai. isase un vishayoan ke prati usake man mean rag uth‍panh‍n ho jata hai. tadananh‍tar pratikool vishay se dvesh hota hai. phir anukool vishay ke liye lobh hota hai aur lobh ke bad usake man par moh adhikar jama leta hai. lobh aur moh se ghir huye tatha rag-dvesh ke vashibhoot hue manushh‍y ki buddhi dharm mean nahian lagati hai. vah kisi-n-kisi bahane se dikhaoo dharm ka acharan karata hai. kurunanh‍dan! vah koee bahana lekar hi dharm karata hai, kapat se hi dhan kamane ki ruchi rakhata hai aur yadi kapat se dhan praph‍t karane mean saphalata mil gayi to vah usi mean apani sari buddhi laga deta hai.

bharatananh‍dan! phir to vidvanoan aur suhridayoan ke mana karane par bhi vah keval pap hi karana chahata hai tatha mana karane valoan ko dharmashastr ke vakh‍yoan ke dvara pratipadit nh‍yayayukh‍t uttar de deta hai. usaka rag aur mohajanit tin prakar ka adharm badhata hai. vah man se pap ki hi bat sochata hai, vani se pap hi bolata hai aur kriya dvara pap hi karata hai. shreshth purush to adharm mean pravrit hue manushh‍y ke dosh janate hai; parantu us papi ke saman sh‍vabhav vale papachari manushh‍y usake sath mitrata sh‍thapit karate haian. aisa purush is lok mean hi sukh nahian pata hai, phir paralok mean to pa hi kaise sakata hai. is prakar manushh‍y papath‍ma ho jata hai. ab dharmath‍ma ke vishay mean mujhase sunoan. vah jis prakar parahit-sadhak kalh‍yanakari dharm ka acharan karata hai, usi prakar kalh‍yan ka bhagi hota hai. vah kshemakarak dharm ke prabhav se hi abhishh‍t gati ko praph‍t hota hai. jo purush apani buddhi se rag adi doshoan ko pahale hi dekh leta hai, vah sukh-du:kh ko samajhane mean kushal hota hai. phir vah shreshth purushoan ka sevan karata hai. sath‍purushoan ki seva ya sath‍sang se aur sath‍karmoan ke abhh‍yas se us purush ki buddhi badhati hai.
