sanbandh- paanchavean adhh‍yay ke aramh‍bh mean arjun ne ‘karmasannh‍yas’ (saankhh‍yayog) aur ‘karmayog’- in donoan mean se kaun-sa ek sadhan mere liye sunishchit kalh‍yanaprad hai?- yah batalane ke liye bhagavanh se prarthana ki thi. is par bhagavanh ne donoan sadhanoan-ko kalh‍yanaprad sugamata hone ke karan ‘karmasannh‍yas’ ki apeksha ‘karmayog’ ki shreshh‍thata ka pratipadan kiya. tadanantar donoan sadhanoan ke sh‍varoop, unaki vidhi aur unake phal ka bhalibhaanti nirupan karake donoan ke liye hi ath‍yant upayogi evan paramath‍ma-ki prapti ka pradhan upay samajhakar sankshep mean dhh‍yanayog ka bhi varnan kiya; parantu donoan mean se kaun-sa sadhan karana chahiye, is bat ko n to arjun ko sh‍pashh‍t shabh‍doan mean ajna hi ki gayi aur n dhh‍yanayog ka hi aang-prath‍yangoansahit vish‍tar se varnan hua. isaliye ab dhh‍yanayog ka aangoansahit vish‍trit varnan karane ke liye chhathe adhh‍yay ka aramh‍bh karate hue sabase pahale arjun ko bhaktiyukh‍t karmayog mean pravritt karane ke uddeshh‍y se karmayog ki prashasa karate haian.

shribhagavanh bole- jo purush karmaphal ka ashray n lekar[1] karane yogh‍y karm karata hai,[2] vah sannh‍yasi tatha yogi hai[3] aur keval agni ka th‍yag karane vala sannh‍yasi nahian haian[4] tatha keval kriyaoan ka th‍yag karane vala yogi nahian haian.[5]

sanbandh- pahale shlok mean bhagavanh ne karmaphal ka ashray n lekar karm karane vale ko sannh‍yasi aur yogi batalaya. us par yah shanka ho sakati hai ki yadi ‘sannh‍yasi’ aur ‘yog’ donoan bhinh‍n-bhinh‍n sthiti haian to uparyukh‍t sadhak donoan se samh‍panh‍n kaise ho sakata hai; at: is shanka ka nirakaran karane ke liye doosare shlok mean ‘sannh‍yas’ ‘yog’ ki ekata ka pratipadan karate haian- he arjun! jisako sannh‍yas aisa kahate haian, usi ka too yog jan;[6] kyoanki sankalpoan ka tyag n karane vala koee bhi purush yogi nahian hota. yog mean aroodh hone ki ichchha vale mananashil purush ke liye yog ki prapti mean nishh‍kamabhav se karm karana hi hetu kaha jata haian[7] aur yogaroodh ho jane par us yogaroodh purush ka jo sarvasankalpoan ka abhav haian[8] vahi kalyan mean hetu kaha jata hai.

  1. sh‍tri, putr, dhan, man aur b daee adi is lok ke aur sh‍vargasukhadi paralok ke jitane bhi bhog haian, un sabhi ka ‘karmaphal’ mean kar lena chahiye. sadharan manushh‍y jo kuchh bhi karm karata hai, kisi-n-kisi phal ka ashray lekar hi karata hai. isaliye usake karm use bar-bar janh‍m-maran ke chakh‍kar mean girane vale hote haian. atev is lok aur paralok ke samh‍poorn bhogoan ko anith‍y, kshanabhangur aur du:khoan mean hetu samajhakar samash‍t karmoan mean mamata, asakti aur phalechh‍chha ka sarvatha th‍yag kar dena hi karmaphal ke ashray ka th‍yag karana hai.
  2. apane-apane varnashram ke anusar jitane bhi shash‍travihit nith‍y-naimittik yajn, dan, tap, shariranivah sanbandhi tatha lok seva adi ke liye kiye jane vale shubh karm haian, ve sabhi karane yogh‍y karm haian. un sabako yathavidhi tatha yathayogh‍y alash‍yarahit hokar apani shakti ke anusar kartavh‍yabuddhi se uth‍sahapoorvak sada karate rahana hi unaka karana hai.
  3. aisa karmayogi purush samash‍t sankalh‍poan ka th‍yagi hota hai aur us yatharth jnan ko praph‍t ho jata hai jo saankhh‍yayog aur karmayog donoan hi nishh‍thaoan ka charam phal hai, isaliye vah ‘sannh‍yasith‍v’ aur ‘yogith‍v’ donoan hi gunoan mean yukh‍t mana jata hai.
  4. jisane agni ko th‍yagakar sannh‍yas-ashram ka to grahan kar liya hai; parantu jo jnanayog (saankhh‍yayog) ke lakshanoan se yukh‍t nahian hai, vah vash‍tut: sannh‍yasi nahian hai, kayoanki usane keval agni ka hi th‍yag kiya hai, samash‍t kriyaoan mean kartapan ke abhiman ka th‍yag tatha mamata, asakti aur dehabhiman ka th‍yag nahian kiya.
  5. jo sab kriyaoan ka th‍yag karake dhh‍yan lagakar to baith gaya hai, parantu jisake aant:karan mean ahanta, mamata, rag, dvesh, kamana adi dosh vartaman haian, vah bhi vash‍tav mean yogi nahian hai; kh‍yoanki usane bhi keval bahari kriyaoan ka hi th‍yag kiya hai, mamata, abhiman, asakti, kamana or krodh adi ka th‍yag nahian kiya.
  6. yahaan sannyas shabd ka arth hai- sharir, indriy aur manadvara hone vali sampoorn kriyaoan mean kartapan ka bhav mitakar keval paramatma mean hi abhinn-bhav se sthit ho jana. yah saankhh‍yayog ki parakashh‍tha hai tatha ‘yog’ shabd ka arth hai- mamata, asakti aur kamana ke tyag dvara hone vali ‘karmayog’ ki parakashh‍tharoop naishh‍karmy-siddhi. donoan mean hi sankalpoan ka sarvatha abhav ho jata haian aur saankhh‍yayogi jis parabrahm paramatma ko prapt hota hai, karmayogi bhi usi ko prapt hota hai. is prakar donoan mean hi samast sankalpoan ka tyag hai aur donoan ka ek hi phal haian; isaliye donoan ki ekata ki gayi hai.
  7. apane varn, ashram, adhikar aur sthiti ke anukool jis samay jo kartavy-karm hoan, phal aur asakti ka tyag karake unaka acharan karana yogaroodh avastha ki prapti mean hetu haian- isiliye gita ke tisare adhh‍yay ke chauthe shh‍lok mean bhi kaha hai ki karmoan ka arambh kiye bina manushh‍y naishh‍karmy arthath yogaroodh-avastha ko nahian prapt ho sakata.
  8. man vash mean hokar shant ho jane par hi sankalpoan ka sarv‍tha abhav hota hai. isake atirikt karmoan ka svaroopat: sarvatha tyag ho bhi nahian sakata. atev yahaan ‘sham:’ ka arth sarvasankalpoan ka abhav mana gaya haian.
