raja bali ne kaha- 'brahmanakumar! tumhari batean to vriddhoan-jaisi haian, parantu tumhari buddhi abhi bachchoan ki-si hi hai. abhi tum ho bhi to balak hi n, isi se apana hani-labh nahian samajh rahe ho. maian tinoan lokoan ka ekamatr adhipati hooan aur dvip-ka-dvip de sakata hooan. jo mujhe apani vani se prasann kar le aur mujhase keval tin dag bhoomi maange-vah bhi kya buddhiman kaha ja sakata hai? brahmachari ji! jo ek bar kuchh maangane ke liye mere pas a gaya, use phir kabhi kisi se kuchh maangane ki avashyakata nahian p dani chahiye. atah apani jivika chalane ke liye tumhean jitani bhoomi ki avashyakata ho, utani mujhase maang lo.'

shribhagavan ne kaha- rajan! sansar ke sab-ke-sab pyare vishay ek manushy ki kamanaoan ko bhi poorn karane mean samarth nahian haian, yadi vah apani indriyoan ko vash mean rakhane vala-santoshi n ho. jo tin pag bhoomi se santosh nahian kar leta, use nau varshoan se yukt ek dvip bhi de diya jaye to bhi vah santusht nahian ho sakata. kyoanki usake man mean satoan dvip pane ki ichchha bani hi rahegi.

maianne suna hai ki prithu, gay adi naresh satoan dvipoan ke adhipati the; parantu utane dhan aur bhog ki samagriyoan ke milane par bhi ve trishna ka par n pa sake. jo kuchh prarabdh se mil jaye, usi se santusht ho rahane vala purush apana jivan sukh se vyatit karata hai. parantu apani indriyoan ko vash mean n rakhane vala tinoan lokoan ka rajy pane par bhi duahkhi hi rahata hai. kyoanki usake hriday mean asantosh ki ag dhadhakati rahati hai. dhan aur bhogoan se santosh n hona hi jiv ke janm-mrityu ke chakkar mean girane ka karan hai tatha jo kuchh prapt ho jaye, usi mean santosh kar lena mukti ka karan hai.
