jaise vayu akash ko sukha nahian sakati, ag jala nahian sakati, jal bhigo nahian sakata, dhool-dhuean matamaila nahian kar sakate aur rrituoan ke gun garami-sardi adi use prabhavit nahian kar sakate-kyoanki ye sab ane-jane vale kshanik bhav haian aur akash in sabaka ekaras adhishthan hai-vaise hi sattvagun, rajogun aur tamogun ki vrittiyaan tatha karm avinashi atma ka sparsh nahian kar pate; vah to inase sarvatha pare hai. inake dvara to keval vahi sansar mean bhatakata hai jo inamean ahankar kar baithata hai. uddhav ji! aisa hone par bhi tab tak in mayanirmit gunoan aur unake karyoan ka sang sarvatha tyag dena chahiye, jab tak mere sudridh bhaktiyog ke dvara man ka rajogunaroop mal ekadam nikal n jaye.

uddhav ji! jaise bhalibhaanti chikitsa n karane par rog ka samool nash nahian hota, vah bar-bar ubharakar manushy ko sataya karata hai; vaise hi jis man ki vasanaean aur karmoan ke sanskar mit nahian gaye haian, jo stri-putr adi mean asakt hai, vah bar-bar adhoore yogi ko bedhata rahata hai aur use kee bar yogabhrasht bhi kar deta hai. devataoan ke dvara prerit shishy-putr adi ke dvara kiye hue vighnoan se yadi kadachith adhoora yogi margachyut ho jaye to bhi vah apane poorvabhyas ke karan punah yogabhyas mean hi lag jata hai. karm adi mean usaki pravritti nahian hoti. uddhav ji! jiv sanskar adi se prerit hokar janm se lekar mrityuparyant karm mean hi laga rahata hai aur unamean isht-anisht-buddhi karake harsh-vishad adi vikaroan ko prapt hota rahata hai. parantu jo tattv ka sakshatkar kar leta hai, vah prakriti mean sthit rahane par bhi sanskaranusar karm hote rahane par bhi unamean isht-anisht-buddhi karake harsh-vishad adi vikaroan se yukt nahian hota; kyoanki anandasvaroop atma ke sakshatkar se usaki sansar sambandhi sabhi asha-trishnaean pahale se hi nasht ho chuki hoti haian. jo apane svaroop mean sthit ho gaya hai, use is bat ka bhi pata nahian rahata ki sharir kh da hai ya baitha, chal raha hai ya so raha hai, mal-mootr tyag raha hai, bhojan kar raha hai athava aur koee svabhavik karm kar raha hai; kyoanki usaki vritti to atmasvaroop mean sthit-brahmakar rahati hai. yadi jnani purush ki drishti mean indriyoan ke vividh bahy vishay, jo ki asath haian, ate bhi haian to vah unhean apane atma se bhinn nahian manata, kyoanki ve yuktiyoan, pramanoan aur svanubhooti se siddh nahian hote. jaise niand toot jane par svapn mean dekhe hue aur jagane par tirohit hue padarthoan ko koee saty nahian manata, vaise hi jnani purush bhi apane se bhinn pratiyaman padarthoan ko saty nahian manate.

uddhav ji! (isaka yah arth nahian hai ki ajnani ne atma ka tyag kar diya hai aur jnani usako grahan karata hai. isaka tatpary keval itana hi hai ki) anekoan prakar ke gun aur karmoan se yukt deh, indriy adi padarth pahale ajnan ke karan atma se abhinn man liye gaye the, unaka vivek nahian tha. ab atmadrishti hone par ajnan aur usake karyoan ki nivritti ho jati hai. isaliye ajnan ki nivritti hi abhisht hai. vrittiyoan ke dvara n to atma ka grahan ho sakata hai aur n tyag.
