1. raja bali ke poorv janm ka vritant

‘arjun! yah kashmal kahaan se aya tujhamean? kya matri-kul se aya? pitrikul se aya athava guru-kul se aya! tera matri-kul bhi param pavitr, pitri-kul aur guru-kul bhi param pavitr, phir yah moh kahaan se aya? asal mean janm-janmantaroan ke kee dosh a jate haian, unhian doshoan se aisa hota hai. is tarah bhagavan ne arjun mean bir-ras jagrath karana chaha. svadharm palan se sanbhav atul svargarajy, nishkantak bhoorajy aur akshay kirti ka lobh dekar evan svadharm chyuti se sanbhav asvargy, arajy aur akshay apakirti ka bhay dikhakar bhagavan ne arjun ko yuddh ko yuddh ke liye prerit kiya. phir bhi jab ve tadarth udyat nahian hue tab bhagavan ne unhean vishvaroop-virat roop ka darshan karakar mamataspadoan- bhishm-dron-jayadrath- duryodhan aur duahshasan adi ko nihat dikhakar nimittamatr hone ki prerana di.

atmopadesh aur sharanagati ki mahima batakar arjun ke supt vir bhav ko uddipt kiya. kahane ka matalab yah hai ki ‘kantaken kantakoddharah ‘kaante se kaanta nikalata hai’ is niti ke anusar kam krodh se dabata hai. kam, krodh jahaan sham se dabate haian vahaan karpany se bhi dabate haian. kartavyaparayanata se labh aur kartavyatyag se hani ka jnan hon par labh ka lobh aur hani ke dar se karpany door hota hai, phir svadharm mean prerak shaury-tejadi ki abhivyikti aur svadharm mean pravritti hoti hai. kam krodh se dabata hai, parantu kam-krodhadi sabhi vikar nirvikar svatah atmaroop mean avasthit mahapurushoan ke nivritt ho jate haian. nar-narayan n to kam se prabhavit hue, n kam jany ke bad krodhit hue aur n usake bad ahamit ke hi vashibhoot hue. nar-narayan ne apana sarvasv tap, svaroopachintan, atmanubhooti-atmaroop se avasthiti ke liye arpit kar diya tha. isaliye unamean adbhut audary tha. bhagavatprapti ke liye sarvasv tyag ka bhav karpany ke rahate nahian banata, karpany hatane par hi banata hai.
