pratham adhyay sanbandh- poorvashlok mean apane sharir ke shokajanit ath chihnoan ka varnan karake ab arjun bhavi parinam ke soochak shakunoan ki drishti se yuddh karane ka anauchity batate haian.
arth- he keshav! maian lakshanoan- shakunoan ko bhi viparit dekh raha hooan aur yuddh mean svajanoan ko marakar shrey[1] bhi nahian dekh raha hooan. vyakhya- ‘nimittani ch pashyami viparitani keshav’- he keshav! maian shakunoan ko[2] bhi viparit hi dekh raha hooan. tatpary hai ki kisi bhi kary ke aranbh mean man mean jitana adhik utsah[3] hota hai, vah utsah us kary ko utana hi siddh karane vala hota hai. parantu agar kary ke aranbh mean hi utsah bhang ho jata hai, man mean sankalp-vikalp thik nahian hote, to us kary ka parinam achchha nahian hota. isi bhav se arjun kah rahe haian ki abhi mere sharir mean avayavoan ka shithil hona, kamp hona, mukh ka sookhana adi jo lakshan ho rahe haian, ye vyaktigat shakun bhi thik nahian ho rahe haian[4] |

- ↑ jitane bhi shakun hote haian, ve kisi achchhi ya buri ghatana ke hone mean nimitt nahian hote arthat ve kisi ghatana ke nirmata nahian hote, pratyut bhavi ghatana ki soochana dene vale hote haian. shakun batane vale prani bhi vastav mean shakunoan ko batate nahian hai; kiantu unaki svabhavik cheshta se shakun soochit hote haian.

- ↑ yadyapi arjun sharir mean hone vale lakshanoan ko bhi shakun man rahe haian, tathapi vastav mean ye shakun nahian hai. ye to shok ke karan iandriyaan, sharir man, buddhi mean hone vale vikar haian.
- ↑ yahaan ‘pashyami’ kriya bhoot aur vartaman ke shakunoan ke vishay mean aur ‘anupashyami’ kriya bhavishy ke parinam ke vishay mean ayi hai.
