‘yastu[1] karmaphalatyagi s tyagityabhidhiyate’- jo kisi bhi karm aur phal ke sath apana sanbandh nahian rakhata, vahi tyagi hai. jab tak manushy kushal-akushal ke sath, achchhe-mande ke sath apana sanbandh rakhata hai, tab tak vah tyagi nahian hai. yah purush jis prakrit kriya aur padarthoan ko apana manata hai, usamean usaki priyata ho jati hai. usi priyata ka nam hai- asakti. yah asakti hi vartaman ke karmoan ko lekar ‘karmasakti’ aur bhavishy mean milane vale phal ki ichchha ko lekar ‘phalasakti’ kahalati hai. jab manushy phal-tyag ka uddeshy bana leta hai, tab usake sab karm sansar ke hit ke lie hone lagate haian, apane lie nahian. karan ki usako yah bat achchhi tarah se samajh mean a jati hai ki karm karane ki sab ki sab samagri sansar se mili hai aur sansar ki hi hai, apani nahian. in karmoan ka bhi adi aur aant hota hai tatha unaka phal bhi utpann aur nasht hone vala hota hai; parantu svayan sada nirvikar rahata hai; n utpann hota hai, n nasht hota hai aur n kabhi vikrit hi hota hai. aisa vivek hone par phalechchha ka tyag sugamata se ho jata hai. phal ka tyag karane mean us viveki manushy mean kabhi abhiman bhi nahian ata; kyoanki karm aur usaka phal- donoan hi apane se pratikshan viyukt ho rahe haian; atah unake sath hamara sanbandh vastav mean hai hi kahaan? isilie bhagavan kahate haian ki jo karmaphal ka tyagi hai, vahi tyagi kaha jata hai.

- ↑ yahaan ‘tu’ avyay ka prayog karane ka tatpary hai ki jo samany sansari purush haian, unaki apeksha karmaphal ka tyag karane vala purush shreshth hai, vilakshan hai. karan ki usaka uddeshy paramatmatattv ki prapti karane ka arthat apana kalyan karane ka hota hai.
