bhishm ka sanvad

bhishh‍m ji ne kaha- beta! sath‍purushoan ko chahiye ki ve pahale var ke shil-sh‍vabhav, sadachar, vidya, kul, maryada aur karyoan ki jaanch karean. phir yadi vah sabhi drishtiyoan se gunavan pratit ho to use kanh‍ya pradan karean.

prajapath‍y vivah

yudhishthir! is prakar bh‍yahane yogh‍y var ko bulakar usake sath kanh‍ya ka vivah karana uttam brahmanoan ka dharm-brahm vivah hai. jo dhan adi ke dvara var paksh ko anukul karake kanh‍yadan kiya jata hai, vah shishh‍t brahman aur kshatriyoan ka sanatan dharm kaha jata hai. (isi ko prajapath‍y vivah kahate haian).

ganh‍dharv vivah

yudhishthir! jab kanh‍ya ke mata-pita apane pasand kiye hue var ko chho dakar jise kanh‍ya pasand karati ho tatha jo kanh‍ya ko chahata ho aise var ke sath us kanh‍ya ka vivah karate haian, tab daveta purush us vivah ko ganh‍dharv dharm (ganh‍dharv vivah) kahate haian.

asur vivah

nareshh‍var! kanh‍ya ke banh‍dhu-banh‍dhavoan ko lobh mean dalakar unh‍hean bahut-sa dhan dekar jo kanh‍ya ko kharid le jata hai, ise manishi purush asuroan ka dharm (asur vivah) kahate haian.

rakshas vivah

tat! isi prakar kanh‍ya ke rote hue abhibhavakoan ko marakar, unake mash‍tak katakar roti huee kanh‍ya ko usake ghar se balapoorvak har lana rakshasoan ka kam (rakshas vivah) kaha jata hai.

papamay vivah

yudhishthir! in paanch (brahay, prajapath‍y,ganh‍dharv , asur aur rakshas) vivahoan mean se poorvakathit tin vivah dharmanukul haian aur shesh do papamay haian. asur aur rakshas vivah kisi prakar bhi nahian karane chahiyean.[2]

dharmanukul vivah

narashreshh‍th! barah, kshatr (prajapath‍y) tatha ganh‍dharv- ye tin vivah dharmanukul bataye gaye haian. ye prithak hoan ya anh‍y vivahoan se mishrit- karane hi yogh‍y haian. isamean sanshay nahian hai. brahman ke liye tin bharyaean batayi gayi haian (brahman-kanh‍ya, kshatriy-kanh‍ya aur vaishh‍y–kanh‍ya), kshatriy ke liye do bharyaean kahi jati haian (kshatriy-kanh‍ya aur vaishh‍y-kanh‍ya). vaishh‍y keval apani hi jati ki kanh‍ya ke sath vivah kare. in striyoan se jo santanean uth‍panh‍n hoti haian ve pita ke saman varnavali hoti haian (mataoan ke kul ya varn ke karan unamean koee taratamh‍y nahian hota). brahman ki patniyoan mean brahman-kanh‍ya shreshh‍th mani jati hai, kshatriy ke liye kshatriy-kanh‍ya shreshh‍th hai (vaishh‍y ki to ek hi path‍ni hoti hai; at: vah shreshh‍th hai hi). kuchh logoan ka mat hai ki rati ke liye shoodr-jati ki kanh‍ya se bhi vivah kiya ja sakata hai; parantu aur log aisa nahian manate (ve shoodr-kanh‍ya ko traivarnikoan ke liye agrah batalate haian). shreshh‍th purush brahman ka shudr-kanh‍ya ke garbh se santan uth‍panh‍n karana achh‍chha nahian manate. shoodra ke garbh se santan uth‍panh‍n karane vala prayashchit ka bhagi hota hai. tis varsh ka purush das varsh ki kanh‍ya ko, jo rajash‍vala n huee ho, path‍ni roop mean praph‍t kare. athava ikh‍kis varsh ka purush sat varsh ki kumari ke sath vivah kare.

bharatashreshh‍th! jis kanh‍ya ke pita athava bhaee n hoan, usake sath kabhi vivah nahian karana chahiye, kh‍yoanki vah putri ka-dharmavali mani jati hai.[3] rritumati hone ke pashh‍chat tin varsh tak kanh‍ya apane vivah ki bat dekhe. chautha varsh lagane par hi vah sh‍vayan hi kisi ko apana pati bana le. bharatashreshh‍th! aisa karane par us kanh‍ya ka us purush ke sath kiya hua samh‍banh‍dh tatha usase hone vali santan nimh‍n shreni ki nahian samajhi jati. isake viparit bartav karane vali sh‍tri prajapati ki drishti mean ninh‍daniy hoti hai. jo kanh‍ya mata ki sapinh‍d aur pita ke gotr ki n ho, usi ka anugaman karean. ise manuji ne dharmanukool bataya hai[4]

yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! yadi ek manushh‍y ne vivah pakh‍ka karake kanh‍ya ka moolh‍y de diya ho, doosare ne moolh‍y dene ka vada karake vivah pakh‍ka kiya ho, tisara usi kanh‍ya ko balapoorvak le jane ki bat kar raha ho, chautha usake bhaee-banh‍dhuoan vishesh dhan ka lobh dikhakar bh‍yah karane ko taiyar ho aur paanchava usaka panigrahan kar chuka ho to dharmat: usaki kanh‍ya kisaki path‍ni mani jayegi? ham log is vishay mean yatharth tath‍v ko janana chahate haian. ap hamare liye netr(path-pradarshak)hoan.

bhishh‍m ka sanvad

bhishh‍m ji ne kaha- bharat! manushh‍yoan ke hit se samh‍banh‍dh rakhane vala jo koee bhi karm hai, vah vh‍yavash‍tha liye dekha jata hai. samash‍t vicharavan purush ekatr hokar jab yah vichar kar lean ki ‘amuk kanh‍ya amuk purush ko deni chahiye’ to yah vh‍yavash‍tha hi vivah ka nishh‍chay karane vali hoti hai. jo jhooth bolakar is vh‍yavash‍tha ko ulat deta hai, vah pap ka bhagi hota hai. bharya, pati, achary, shishh‍y aur upadhh‍yay bhi yadi uparyukh‍t ke viruddh jhooth bolean to danh‍d ke bhagi hote haian. parantu doosare log unh‍hean danh‍d ke bhagi nahian manate haian. akam purush ke sath sakama kanh‍ya ka sahavas ho, ise manu achh‍chha nahian manate haian. at: sarvasamh‍mati se nishchit kiye hue vivah ko mithh‍ya karane ke apayash aur adharm ka karan hota hai. vah dharm ko nashh‍t karane vala mana gaya hai. bharat! kanh‍ya ke bhaee-banh‍dhu jis kanh‍ya ko dharmapoorvak panigrahan vidhi se dan kar dete haian athava jise moolh‍y lekar de dalate haian, us kanh‍ya ko dharmapoorvak vivah karane vala athava moolh‍y dekar kharidane vala yadi apane ghar le aye to isamean kisi prakar ka dosh nahian hota. bhala us dasha mean dosh ki prapti kaise ho sakati hai?[5]

dharmat: path‍ni

kanh‍ya ke kutumh‍bijanoan ki anumati milane par vaivahik manh‍tr aur hom ka prayog karana chahiye, tabhi ve manh‍tr siddh (saphal) hote haian, arthat vah manh‍troan dvara vivah kiya hua mana jata hai. jis kanh‍ya ka mata-pita ke dvara dan nahian kiya gaya usake liye kiye gaye manh‍tr-prayog kisi tarah siddh nahian hote, arthat vah vivah manh‍troan dvara kiya hua nahian mana jata. pati aur path‍ni mean parash‍par manh‍trochh‍charanapoorvak jo pratijna hoti hai vahi shreshh‍th mani jati hai, aur yadi usake liye banh‍dhu-banh‍dhavoan ka samarthan praph‍t ho tab to aur uttam bat hai. dharmashash‍tr ki ajna ke anusar nh‍yayat: praph‍t huee path‍ni ko pati apane prarabh‍dhakarm ke anusar mili huee bharya samajhata hai. is prakar prarabh‍dhakarm ke anusar mili huee bharya samajhata hai. is prakar vah daivayog se praph‍t huee path‍ni ko grahan karata hai tatha manushh‍yoan ki jhoothi bat ko, us vivah ko ayogh‍y batane vali varta ko agrahay kar deta hai. chetayormata tath‍sapinh‍dyan nivartate.. arthat ‘yadi var athava kanh‍ya ka pita mool purush se satavian pidhi mean uth‍panh‍n hua hai tatha mata paanchavian pidhi mean paida huee hai to var aur kanya ke liye sapinh‍dy paanch pidhi tak. sat pidhi mean ek to pinh‍d dene vala hota hai, tin pinh‍dabhagi hote haian aur tin lepabhagi hote haian.

yudhishthir ne poochha- pitamah! yadi ek var se kanh‍ya ka vivah pakh‍ka karake usaka moolh‍y le liya gaya ho aur pichhe usase bhi shreshh‍th dharm, arth aur kam se samh‍panh‍n ath‍yanh‍t yogh‍y var mil jaye to pahale jisase moolh‍y liya gaya usase jhooth bolana-usako kanh‍ya dene se iankar kar dena chahiye ya nahian? isamean donoan dashaoan mean dosh praph‍t hota hai- yadi banh‍dhujanoan ki samh‍mati se moolh‍y lekar nishchit kiye hue vivah ko ulat diya jaye to vachan-bhang ka dosh lagata hai aur shreshh‍th var ka ulh‍laghann karane se kanh‍ya ke hit ko hani pahuanchane ka praph‍t hota hai. aisi dasha mean kanh‍yadata kh‍ya karean; jisase vah kalh‍yan ka bhagi ho? ham to samh‍poorn dharmoan mean is kanh‍yadan roop dharm ko ho adhik chinh‍tan arthat vichar ke yogh‍y manate haian. ham is vishay mean yatharth tath‍v ko janana chahate haian. ap hamare path pradarshak hoiye. in sab batoan ko sh‍pashh‍t roop se bataiye. maian apaki batean sunane se triph‍t nahian ho raha hooan. at: ap is vishay ka pratipadan kijiye.
bhishh‍m ji ne kaha- rajan! moolh‍y de dene se hi vivah ka antim nishh‍chay nahian ho pata (usamean parivartan ki samh‍bhavana rahati hi hai). yah samajhakar hi moolh‍y dene vala moolh‍y deta hai aur phir use vapas nahian maangata. sajh‍jan purush kabhi-kabhi moolh‍y lekar bhi kisi vishesh karanavash kanh‍yadan nahian karate haian. kanh‍ya ke bhaee-banh‍dhu kisi se moolh‍y tabhi maangate haian jab vah viparit gun (adhik avash‍tha adi)-se yukh‍t hota hai. yadi var ko bulakar kaha jaye ki ‘tum meri kanh‍ya ko abhooshan pahanakar isake sath vivah kar lo.' aisa kahane par yah usake lie abhooshan dekar vivah kare to yah dharmanukool hi hai. kyoanki is prakar jo kanh‍ya ke liye abhooshan lekar kanh‍yadan kiya jata hai, vah n to moolh‍y hai aur n vikray hi; isaliye kanh‍ya ke liye koee vash‍tu sh‍vikar karake kanh‍ya ka dan karana sanatan dharm hai.' jo log bhinh‍n–bhinh‍n vh‍yaktiyoan se kahate haian ki ‘maian apako apani kanh‍ya dooanga.', jo kahate haian ‘nahian dooanga’ aur jo kahate haian ‘avashh‍y dooanga’ unaki ye sabhi batean kanh‍ya dene ke pahale nahian kahi huee ke hi tulh‍y haian.[6]

jab tak kanh‍ya ka panigrahan sansh‍kar hone ke pahale tak var aur kanh‍ya apas mean ek-doosare ke liye prarthana kar sakate haian. m‍harshiyoan ka mat hai ki ayogh‍y var ko kanh‍ya nahian deni chahiye, kh‍yoanki suyogh‍y purush ko kanh‍yadan karana hi kam-samh‍banh‍dhi sukh aur suyogh‍y santan ki uth‍patti ka karan hai. aisa mera vichar hai. kanh‍ya ke kray-vikray mean bahut-se dosh haian. is bat ko tum adhik kal tak sochane-vicharane ke bad sh‍vayan samajh loge. keval moolh‍y de dene se vivah ka antim nishh‍chay nahian ho jata hai. pahale bhi kabhi aisa nahian hua tha, is vishay mean tum suno. maian vichitraviry ke vivah ke liye magadh, kashi tatha kaushal desh ke samash‍t viroan ko parajit karake kashiraj ki do[7]kanh‍yaoan ko har laya tha. unamean se ek kanh‍ya amh‍ba apana hath shalh‍varaj ke hath mean de chuki thi; arthat man-hi-man usako apana pati man chuki thi. doosari (do kanh‍yaoan) ka kashiraj ko shulh‍k praph‍t ho gaya tha. isaliye mere pita (chacha) kuruvanshi bahalik ne vahian kaha ki ‘jo kanh‍ya panigrihit ho chuki hai usaka th‍yag kar do aur doosari kanh‍ya ka (jinake liye shulh‍kamatr liya gaya hai) vivah karo.' mujhe chacha ji ke is kathan par sandeh tha, isaliye maianne doosaroan se bhi isake vishay mean poochha. parantu is vishay mean mere chacha ji ki bahut prabal ichh‍chha thi ki dharm ka palan ho (at: ve panigrihita kanh‍yake th‍yag par adhik jor de rahe the). rajan! tadananh‍tar maian achar janane ki ichh‍chha se bola- ‘pita ji! maian is vishay mean yah thik-thik janana chahata hooan ki paramh‍paragat achar kh‍ya hai?’ maharaj! mere aisa kahane par dharmath‍maoan mean shreshh‍th mere chacha bahalik is prakar bole- ‘yadi tumh‍hare mat mean moolh‍y dene matr se hi vivah ka poorn nishh‍chay ho jata hai, panigrahan se nahian, tab to sh‍mriti ka yah kathan hi vyarth hoga ki kanh‍ya ka pita ek var se shulh‍k le lene par bhi doosare gunavan var ka ashray le sakata hai.' arthat pahale ko chho dakar doosare gunavan var se apani kanh‍ya ka vivah kar sakata hai. jinaka yah mat hai ki shulh‍k se hi vivah ka nishh‍chay hota hai, panigrahan se nahian, unake is kathan ko dharmajn purush praman nahian manate haian. ‘kanh‍yadan ke vishay mean to logoan ka kathan bhi prasiddh hai ‘arthat sab log yahi kahate haian ki kanh‍yadan hua hai.' at: jo shulh‍k se hi vivah nishh‍chay manate haian unake kathan ki pratiti karane vala koee praman upalabh‍dh nahian hota. jo kray aur shulh‍k ko manh‍yata dete haian ve manushh‍y dharmajn nahian haian. ‘aise logoan ko kanh‍ya nahian deni chahiye aur jo bechi ja rahi ho aisi kanh‍ya ke sath vivah nahian karana chahiye, kh‍yoanki bharya kisi prakar bhi kharidane ya vikray karane ki vash‍tu nahian hai.' jo dasiyoan ko kharidate aur bechate haian ve b de lobhi aur papath‍ma haian. aise hi logoan mean path‍ni ko bhi kharidane-bachene ki nishh‍tha hoti hai. is vishay mean pahale ke logoan ne sath‍yavan se poochha tha ki ‘mahaprajn! yadi kanh‍ya ka shulh‍k dene ke pashh‍chat shulh‍k dene vale ki mrith‍yu ho jaye to usaka panigrahan doosara koee kar sakata hai ya nahi? isamean hamean dharm vishayak sandeh ho gaya hai. ap isaka nivaran kijiye, kh‍yoanki ap jnani purushoan dvara samh‍manit haian.[8]

'un logoan ke is prakar kahane par sath‍yavan ne kaha-‘jahaan uttam patr milata ho vahian kanya deni chahiye.' isake viparit koee vichar man mean nahian lana chahiye. moolh‍y dene vala yadi jivit ho to bhi suyogh‍y var ke milane par sajh‍jan purush usi ke sath kanh‍ya ka vivah karate haian. phir usake mar jane par anh‍yatr karean- isamean to sandeh hi nahian hai. ‘shulh‍k dene vale ki mrith‍yu ho jane par usake chhote bhaee ko vah kanh‍ya pati roop mean grahan kare athava janh‍manh‍tar mean usi pati ko pane ki ichh‍chha se usi ka anusaran (chinh‍tan) karati huee ajivan kumari rahakar tapash‍ya kare. ‘kinh‍hian mat mean akshat yoni kanh‍ya ko sh‍vikar karane ka adhikar hai. doosaroan ke mat mean yah manh‍d pravriti- avaidh kary hai. is prakar jo vivad karate haian, ve anh‍t mean isi nishh‍chay par pahuanchate haian ki kanh‍ya ka panigrahan hone se pahale ka vaivahik mangalachar aur manh‍tr prayog ho jane par jahaan anh‍tar ya vh‍yavadhan p d jaye, arthat ayogh‍y var ko chho dakar kisi doosare yogh‍y var ke sath kanh‍ya bh‍yah di jaye to data ko keval mithh‍ya bhashan ka pap lagata hai (‍panigrahan se poorv kanh‍ya vivahit nahian mani jati hai). ‘saph‍tapadi ke satavean pad mean panigrahan ke manh‍troan ki saphalata hoti hai (aur tabhi pati-path‍ni bhav ka nishh‍chay hota hai). jis purush ko jal se sankalh‍p karake kanh‍ya ka dan diya jata hai vahi usaka panigrahita pati hota hai aur usi ki vah path‍ni mani jati hai. vidvan purush isi prakar kanh‍yadan ki vidhi batate haian. ve isi nishh‍chay par pahuanche hue haian. ‘jo anukul ho, apane vansh ke anuroop ho, apane pita-mata ya bhaee ke dvara di gayi ho aur prajh‍valit agni ke samip baithi ho, aisi path‍ni ko shreshh‍th dvij agni ki parikrama karake shash‍tr vidhi ke anusar grahan karean.[9]
