isase yah bat pragat hoti hai, ki jis kul tatha jati mean shrikrishh‍naji ne janh‍m liya tha usamean yah dharm prachalit ho gaya tha, aur tabhi unh‍hoanne apane priy mitr arjun ko usaka upadesh kiya hoga-aur yahi bat pauranik katha mean bhi kahi gee hai. yah bhi katha prachalit hai, ki shrikrishh‍n ke sath hi sath‍vat jati ka anh‍t ho gaya, is karan shrikrishh‍n ke bad sath‍vat jati mean is dharm ka prasar hona bhi sanbhav nahian tha. bhagavatadharm ke bhinh‍n bhinh‍n namoan ke vishay mean is prakar ki aitihasik upapatti batalaee ja sakati hai, ki jis dharm ko shrikrishh‍n ji ne pravrith‍t kiya tha vah unake pahale kadachith narayaniy ya paancharatr namoan se nh‍yoonadhik aanshoan mean prachalit raha hoga, aur age sath‍vat jati mean usaka prasar hone par use ‘sath‍vat‘ nam praph‍t hua hoga, tadanantar bhagavan shrikrishh‍n tatha arjun ko nar narayan ke avatar manakar log is dharm ko ‘bhagavatadharm’ kahane lage hoange. is vishay ke sanbandh mean yah manane ki koee avashh‍yakata nahian, ki tin ya char bhinh‍n bhinh‍n shrikrishh‍n ho chuke haian aur unamean se har ek ne is dharm ka prachar karate samay apani or se kuchh n kuchh sudhar karane ka prayath‍n kiya hai-vash‍tut: aisa manane ke liye koee praman bhi nahian haian. mooladharm mean nh‍yoonadhik parivartan ho jane ke karan hi yah kalh‍pana uth‍panh‍n ho gee hai.
