granth ko kisane aur kab banaya, usaki bhasha saras hai ya niras, kavy-drishti se usamean madhury aur prasad gun haian ya nahian; shabdoan ki rachana mean vyakaran ka dhyan diya gaya hai ya us granth mean anek arsh prayog haian, usamean kin kin matoan, sthaloan aur vyaktiyoan ka ullekh hai- in batoan se granth ke kal-nirnay aur tatkalin samaj-sthiti ka kuchh pata chalata hai ya nahian; granth ke vichar svatantr haian athava churaye hue hai, yadi usamean doosaroan ke vichar bhare haian to ve kaun se haian aur kahaan se liye gaye haian ityadi batoan ke vivechan ko ‘bahirang-pariksha’ kahate haian. jin prachin panditoan ne gita par tika aur bhashy likha hai unhoanne ukt bahari batoan par adhik dhyan nahian diya. isaka karan yahi hai ki ve log bhagavadgita sarikhe alaukik granth ki pariksha karate samay ukt bahari batoan par dhyan dene ko aisa hi samajhate the. jaisa ki koee manushy ekadh uttam sugandh yukt phool ko pa kar usake rang, sauandary, subas adi ke vishay mean kuchh bhi vichar n kare aur keval usaki pankhuriya ginata rahe; athava jaise koee manushy madhumakkhi ka madhuyukt chhatta pa kar keval chhidroan ko ginane mean hi samay nasht kar de! parantu ab pashchimi vidvanoan ke anukaran se hamare adhunik vidvan log gita ki bahy-pariksha bhi bahut kuchh karane lage haian.
gita ke arsh prayogoan ko dekh kar ek ne yah nishchit kiya hai ki yah granth eesa se kee shatak pahale hi ban gaya hoga. isase yah shanka, bilkul hi nirmool ho jati hai, ki gita ka bhakti marg us eesaee dharm se liya gaya hoga ki jo gita se bahut pichhe prachalit hua hai. gita ke solahavean adhyay mean jis nastik mat ka ullekh hai use bauddh mat samajh kar doosare ne gita ka rachana-kal buddh ke bad mana hai. tisare vidvan ka kathan hai ki terahavean adhyay mean ‘brahmasootrapadaishraiv’ shh‍lok mean brahmasootr ka ullekh hone ke karan gita brahmasootr ke bad bani hogi. isake viruddh kee log yah bhi kahate haian ki brahmasootr mean anek sthanoan par gita hi ka adhar liya gaya hai jisase gita ka usake bad banana siddh nahian hota.
koee koee aisa bhi kahate haian ki yuddh mean ranabhoomi par arjun ko sat sau shlok ki gita sunane ka samay milana sanbhav nahian hai. haan, yah sanbhav hai ki shrikrishn ne arjun ko l daee ki jaldi mean das-bis shlok ya unaka bhavarth suna diya ho aur unhian shh‍lokoan ke vistar ko sanjay ne dhritarashtr se, vyas ne shuk se, vaishampayan ne janamejay se aur soot ne shaunak se kaha ho; athava mahabharatakar ne bhi usako vistrit riti se likh diya hai. gita ki rachana ke sanbandh mean man ki aisi pravriti hone par, gita sagar mean dubaki laga kar, kisi ne sat, kisi ne aththaees, kisi ne chhattis aur kisi ne sau mool shh‍lok gita ke khoj nikale haian.
