sambandh- is prakar badhe hue rajogun ke lakshanoan ka varnan karake ab tamogun ki vriddhi ke lakshan batalaye jate haian-
aprakashoapravrittishch pramado moh ev ch .
tamasyetani jayante vivriddhe kurunandan .. 13 ..
he arjun! tamogun ke badhane par ant:karan aur indriyoan mean aprakash, kartavy-karmoan mean apravritti aur pramad arthat vyarth cheshta aur nidra ant:karan ki mohini vrittiyaan- ye sab hi utpann hote haian .. 13 ..
prashn- aprakash, apravritti, pramad aur moh- is sabaka prithakh-prithakh svaroop kya hai; tatha tamogun ki vriddhi ke samay inaka utpann hona kya hai?
uttar- indriy aur antahkaran ki dipti ka nam prakash hai aur usake viruddh indriy aur antahkaran mean dipti ke abhav ka nam ‘aprakash’ hai. isase sattvagun ke any bhavoan ka bhi abhav samajh lena chahieye. barahavean shlok mean kahe hue rajogun ke kary pravritti ke virodhi bhav ka arthath kisi bhi kartavyakarm ke arambh karane ki ichchha ke abhav ka nam ‘apravritti’ hai. isase rajogun ke any karyoan ka bhi abhav samajh lena chahiye. shastravihit karmoan ki avahelana ka aur vyarth cheshta ka nam ‘pramad’ hai. vivekashakti ki virodhini mohini vrittika aur nidra ka nam ‘moh’ hai.
jis samay tamogun badhata hai, us samay manushy ke indriy aur antahkaran mean dipti ka abhav ho jata hai; yahi ‘aprakash’ ka utpann hona hai. koee bhi karm achchha nahian lagata, keval p de rahakar hi samay bitane ki ichchha hoti hai; yah ‘apravritti’ ka utpann hona hai. sharir aur indriyoan dvara vyarth cheshta karate rahana aur kartavyakarm mean avahelana karana, yah ‘pramad’ ka utpann hona hai. man ka mohit ho jana; kisi bat ki smriti n rahana; tandra, svapn ya sushupti avastha ka prapt ho jana; vivekashakti ka abhav ho jana; kisi vishay ko samajhane ki shakti ka n rahana- yahi sab ‘moh’ ka utpann hona hai. ye sab lakshan tamogun ki vriddhi ke samay utpann hote haian; atev inamean se koee-sa bhi lakshan apane mean dekha jay, tab manushy ko samajhana chahiye ki tamogun badha hua hai.
