arjun uvach
ayatiah shraddhayopeto yogachchalitamanasah.
aprapy yogasansiddhian kaan gatian krishn gachchhati॥37॥
arjun ne kaha: he krishn! us asaphal yogi ki gati kya hai jo prarambh mean shraddhapoorvak atm-sakshatkar ki vidhi grahan karata hai, kintu bad mean bhautikata ke karan usase vichalit ho jata hai aur yogasiddhi ko prapt nahian kar pata?

bhavanuvad- arjun prashn kar rahe haian-“achchha! apane kaha ki abhyas aur vairagy dvara prayatnavanh purush hi yog prapt karate haian. parantu, jinamean in tinoan ka abhav hai, unaki kya gati hoti hai? jo vyakti yogashastr mean astik buddhi hone ke karan shraddhavanh hokar yogabhyas mean pravritt hote haian aur lokavanchak ki bhaanti mithyachari bhi nahian haian, kintu abhyas aur vairagy ke abhav mean unaka man yog se vichalit hokar vishayoan mean pravritt ho jata hai. atev ve yog ko bhalibhaanti siddh nahian kar pate haian, parantu tho di-bahut yog-siddhi ko to prapt karate hi haian. atah yog ki ichchha karane vale (yogaruruksha-bhoomika) se oopar yogaroh-bhoomika ki pratham kaksha ko prapt aise yogiyoan ki kya gati hoti hai?”..37..

kachchinnobhayavibhrashtashchhinnabhramiv nashyati.
apratishtho mahabaho vimoodho brahmanah pathi॥38॥
he mahabahu krishn! kya brahm-prapti ke marg se bhrasht aisa vyakti adhyatmik tatha bhautik donoan hi saphalataoan se chyut nahian hota aur chhinnabhinn badal ki bhaanti vinasht nahian ho jata jisake phalasvaroop usake lie kisi lok mean koee sthan nahian rahata?

bhavanuvad- arjun prashn kar rahe haian-“donoan margoan se bhrasht arthath karmamarg se chyut aur yogamarg ko aprapt hue vyakti ka kya hota hai? megh-shrriankhala se vishlisht (prithak) hokar jaise ki chhinn megh any megh ko n prapt kar vayu mean vilin ho jata hai, vaise hi kahian aise yogi ki gati to nahian hoti? yogamarg mean pravesh karane par us vyakti mean vishay-bhag ke tyag ki ichchha rahati hai, parantu poorn vairagy n hone se usaki bhogoan ki ichchha bhi vartaman rahati hai-yah kasht ki bat hai. (svargasadhan) karm ke abhav mean paralok mean usaka svarg bhi nasht ho jata hai aur mokshasadhan yog ki siddhi nahian hone se moksh bhi nasht ho jata hai-isase aisa pratit hota hai ki donoan hi lokoan mean usaka nash ho gaya hai. atah maian apase poochhata hoo ki brahmaprapti ke sadhanapath mean vimoodh aur nirashray vyakti ka nash hota hai athava nahian..”38..
