brahan-dharm mean santosh ek gun batalaya gaya hai sahi; parantu usaka arth keval yahi hai ki vah chaturvarary- dharmanusar dravy aur aihik aishvary ke vishay mean santosh rakhe. yadi koee brahman kahane lage ki mujhe jitana jnan prapt ho chuka hai usi se mujhe santosh hai, to vah svayan apana nash kar baithega. isi tarah yadi koee vaishy ya shoodr svadharmanusar prapt sthiti mean hi sada santusht bana rahe to usaki bhi vahi durdasha hogi. saraansh yah hai ki asantosh sab bhavi utkarsh ka, prayatn ka, aishvary ka aur moksh ka bhi bij hai. hamean is bat ka sadaiv dhyan rakhana chahiye ki yadi ham is asantosh ka poornataya nash kar daleange, to is lok aur paralok mean bhi hamari durgati hogi. shrikrishn ka upadesh sunate samay jab arjun ne kaha ki “bhooyah kathay triptirhi shrrinavato nasti meamritamh’’ [1]arthat ap ke amritatuly bhashan ko sun kar meri tripti hoti hi nahian, isaliye ap phir bhi apani vibhootiyoan ka varnan kijiye- tab bhagavan ne phir se apani vibhootiyoan ka varnan arambh kiya; unhoanne aisa nahian kaha, ki too apani ichchha ko vash mean kar, asantosh ya atripti achchhi bat nahian hai. isase siddh hota hai ki yogy aur kalyanakarak batoan mean uchit asantosh ka hona bhagavan ko bhi isht hai.

bhartrihari ka bhi isi ashay ka ek shlok hai, yatha “yashasi chabhiruchirvh‍yasanan shrutau’’ arthat ruchi ya ichchha avashy honi chahiye, parantu vah yash ke liye ho; aur vyasan bhi hona chahiye, parantu vah vidya ka ho, any batoan ka nahian. kam-krodh adi vikaroan ke saman hi asantosh ko bhi anivary nahian hone dena chahiye; yadi vah anivary ho jayaga to nissandeh hamare sarvasv ka nash kar dalega. isi hetu se, keval vishayopabhog ki priti ke liye trishna par trishna ladakar aur ek asha ke bad doosari asha rakh kar saansarik sukhoan ke pichhe hamesha bhatakane vale purushoan ki sampati ko, gita ke solahavean adhyay mean, “asuri sanpatti’’ kaha hai.

aisi rat din ki hay hay karate rahane se manushy ke man ki sattvik vritiyoan ka nash ho jata hai, usaki adhogati hoti hai, aur trishna ki poori tripti hona asanbhav hone ke karan kamopabhog-vasana nity adhikadhik badhati jati hai tatha vah manushy ant mean usi dasha mean mar jata hai. parantu, viparit paksh mean trishna aur asantosh ke is dushparinam se bachane ke liye sab prakar ki trishnaoan ke sath sab karmoan ko ek dam chho d dena bhi sattvik marg nahian hai. ukt kathananusar trishna ya asantosh bhavi utkarsh ka bij hai; isaliye chor ke dar se sah ko hi mar dalane ka prayatn kabhi nahian karana chahiye. uchit marg to yahi hai ki ham is bat ka bhali-bhaanti vichar kiya karean ki kis trishna ya kis asantosh se hamean duahkh hoga; aur jo vishishh‍tasha, trishna ya asantosh duahkhakarak ho use chho d dean. unake liye samast karmoan ko chho d dena uchit nahian hai.
