yogasth: kuru karmani sang tyaktva dhananjay .
siddhyasiddhyo: samo bhootva samatvan yog uchyate ॥48॥

he dhananjay! too asakti ka tyag karake siddhi-asiddhi mean sam hokar yog mean sthit hua karmoan ko karah kyoanki samatv hi yog kaha jata hai.

vyakhya- ek vastu ya vyakti mean rag hoga to doosari vastu ya vyakti mean dvesh hona svabhavik hai. rag-dvesh ke rahate hue karm ki siddhi-asiddhi mean samata ka ana asambhav hai. rag-dvesh ke n rahane par jo samata ati hai, us samata mean sthit rahakar kartavy-karmoan ko karana chahiye. samata ko hi ‘yog’ kaha jata hai. karm to karanasapeksh hote haian, par yog karananirapeksh hai. is samataroopi yog mean sthit sadhak kabhi vichalit (yogabhrasht) nahian hota.

dooren hyavaran karm buddhiyogaddhananjay .
buddhau sharanamanvichchh kripana: phalahetav: ॥49॥

buddhiyog (samata) ki apeksha sakam karm door se (atyant) hi nikrisht haian. atah he dhananjay! too buddhi (samata) ka ashray le; kyoanki phal ke hetu banane vale atyant din haian.

vyakhya- yog ki apeksha karm door se hi nikrisht haian, unaki paraspar tulana nahian ho sakati. yog nity-nirantar jyoan-ka-tyoan rahane vala (avinashi) hai aur karm adi-ant vala (nashavanh) hai, phir unaki tulana ho hi kaise sakati hai? isaliye karmoan ka ashray n lekar yog ka hi ashray lena chahiye. yog ki prapti karmoan ke dvara nahian hoti, pratyut karm tatha karmaphal ke sath sambandh-vichchhed hone par hoti hai. karmoan ka ashray janm-maran dene vala aur yog ka ashray mukt karane vala hai.
