dharmakshetre kurukshetre samaveta yuyutsav:.
mamaka: pandavashchaiv kimakurvat sanjay ॥1॥

dhritarashtr bole- he sanjay! dharmabhoomi kurukshetr mean ikatthe hue yuddh ki ichchha vale mere aur pandu ke putroan ne bhi kya kiya?

vyakhya- yah hindoo sanskriti ki vilakshanata hai ki isamean pratyek kary apane kalyan ka uddeshy samane rakhakar hi karane ki prerana ki gayi hai. isaliye yuddh-jaisa ghor karm bhi ‘dharmakshetr’ (dharmabhoomi) evan ‘kurukshetr’ (tirthabhoomi) mean kiya gaya hai, jisamean yuddh mean marane valoan ka bhi kalyan ho jay.

bhagavan ki or se srishti mean koee bhi (mere aur tere ka) vibhag nahian kiya gaya hai. sampoorn srishti panchabhautik hai. sabhi manushy saman haian aur unhean akash, vayu, agni, jal aur prithvi bhi saman roop se mile hue haian. parantu manushy moh ke vashibhoot hokar unamean vibhag kar leta hai ki ye manushy, ghar, gaanv, prant, desh, akash, jal adi mere haian aur ye tere haian. is ‘mere’ aur ‘tere’ ke bhed se hi sampoorn sangharsh utpann hote haian. mahabharat ka yuddh bhi ‘mamakaah’ (mere putr) aur ‘pandavaah’ (pandu ke putr)- is bhed ke karan arambh hua hai.

sanjay bole- us samay vajravyooh se kh di huee pandav-sena ko dekhakar aur dronachary ke pas jakar raja duryodhan yah vachan bola.
