“vartaman samay ki’’ kahane ka karan yah hai ki, jo batean sabhy ya sudhari huee dasha ke sabhi logoan ko prapt ho jaya karati haian, unaka nity vyavahar mean upayog hone lagata hai aur unase jo sukh hamean milata hai, use ham log bhool jaya karate hai; evan jin vastuoan ko pane ki nee ichchha utpann hoti hai unamean se jitani hamean prapt ho sakati haian sirph unhian ke adhar par ham is sansar ke sukh-duahkhoan ka nirnay kiya karate haian. is bat ki tulana karana, ki hamean vartaman kal mean kitane sukh-sadhan upalabdh haian aur sau varsh pahale inamean se kitane sukh-sadhan prapt ho gaye the; aur is bat ka vichar karana ki aj ke din maian sukhi hooan ya nahian; ye donoan batean atyant bhinn haian. in batoan ko samajhane ke liye udaharan lijiye; isamean sandeh nahian ki sau varsh pahale ki bailaga di ki yatra se vartaman samay ki relaga di ki yatra adhik sukhakarak hai; parantu ab is relaga di se milane vale sukh ke ‘sukhatv’ ko ham log bhool gaye haian aur isaka parinam yah dekh p data hai ki kisi din yadi dak der se ati hai aur hamari chitthi hamean samay par nahian milati to hamean achchha nahian lagata- kuchh duahkh hi sa hota hai.

atev manushy ke vartaman samay ke sukh-duahkhoan ka vichar, un sukh-sadhanoan ke adhar par nahian kiya jata ki jo upalabdh haian; kiantu yah vichar manushy ki ‘vartaman’ avashyakataoan ichchhaoan ya vasanaoan ke adhar par hi kiya jata hai. aur, jab ham in avashyakataoan, (ichchhaoan ya vasanaoan) ka vichar karane lagate haian, tab maloom ho jata hai ki unaka to kuchh ant hi nahian- ve anant aur amaryadit haian. yadi hamari ek ichchha aj saphal ho jay to kal vah ichchha bhi saphal ho. jyoan jyoan manushy ki ichchha ya vasana saphal hoti jati hai tyoan tyoan usaki dau d ek kadam age hi badhati chali jati hai; aur, jabaki yah bat anubhav-siddh hai ki in sab ichchhaoan ya vasanaoan ka saphal hona sambhav nahian, tab isamean sandeh nahian ki manushy duahkhi hue bina rah nahian sakata.

yahaan nimn do batoan ke bhed par achchhi tarah dhyan dena chahiyeah-

(1) sab sukh keval trishna-kshay- roop hi hai; aur

(2) manushy ko kitana hi sukh mile to bhi vah asantusht hi rahata hai. yah kahana ek bat hai,

ki pratyek sukh duahkhabhavaroop nahian hai, kiantu sukh aur duahkh indriyoan ki do svatantr vedanaean haian; aur yah kahana usase bilakul hi bhinn hai, ki manushy kisi ek samay paye hue sukh ko bhool kar aur bhi adhikadhik sukh pane ke liye asantusht bana rahata hai inamean se pahali bat sukh ke vastavik svaroop ke vishay mean hai; aur doosari bat yah hai, ki paye hue sukh se manushy ki poori tripti hoti hai ya nahian? vishay- vasana hamesha adhikadhik badhati hi jati hai, isaliye jab pratidin naye naye sukh nahian mil sakate tab yahi maloom hota hai ki poorv prapt sukhoan ko hi bar bar bhogate rahana chahiye aur isi se man ki ichchha ka daman nahian hota.
