prithaktven tu yajjnanan nanabhavanprithagvidhanh .
vetti sarveshu bhooteshu tajjnanan viddhi rajasamh .. 21 ..
yattu kritsnavadekasminh‌ karye saktamahaitukamh .
atattvarthavadalpan ch tattamasamudahritamh .. 22 ..

(20) jis jnan se yah maloom hota hai ki vibhakt arthat bhinn bhinn sab praniyoan mean ek hi avibhakt aur avyay bhav athava tattv hai use sattvik jnan janoan. (21) jis jnan se is prithakatv ka bodh hota hai ki samast pranimatr mean bhinn bhinn prakar ke anek bhav haian use rajas jnan samajho. (22) parantu jo nishkaran aur tattvarth ko bina jane-boojhe ek hi bat mean yah samajh kar asakt rahata hai ki yahi sab kuchh hai, vah alp jnan tamas kaha gaya hai.

tilak ke anusar-[bhinn bhinn jnanoan ke lakshan bahut vyapak haian. apane bal-bachchoan aur stri ko hi sara sansar samajhana tamas jnan hai. isase kuchh uanchi sidhi par pahuchane se drishti adhik vyapak hoti jati hai aur apane gaanv ka athava desh ka manushy bhi apana sa jaanchane lagata hai, to bhi yah buddhi bani hi rahati hai ki bhinn bhinn gaanvoan athava deshoan ke log bhinn bhinn haian. yahi jnan rajas kahalata hai! parantu isase bhi uanche jakar prani matr mean ek hi atma ko pahachanana poorn aur sattvik jnan hai. sar yah hua ki ‘vibhakt mean avibhakt’ athava ‘anekata mean ekata’ ko pahachanana hi jnan ka sachcha lakshan hai. aur, brihadaranayak evan kathoranishadoan ke varnananusar jo yah pahachan leta hai ki is jagat mean nanatv nahian hai- ‘‘neh nanasti kianchan’’, vah mukt ho jata hai; parantu jo is jagat mean anekata dekhata hai, vah janm-maran ke chakkar mean p da rahata hai- “mrityoah s mrityumaproti y ih nanev pashyachi’’[1].. is jagat mean jo kuchh jnan prapt karana hai, vah yahi hai[2], aur jnan ki yahi param sima hai; kyoanki sabhi ke ek ho jane par phir ekikaran ki jnan-kriya ko age badhane ke liye sthan hi nahian rahata[3].

ekikaran karane ki is jnan-kriya ka niroopan gitarahasy ke navean prakaran[4] mean kiya gaya hai. jab yah sattvik jnan man mean bhali-bhaanti pratibimbit ho jata hai; tab manushy ke deh-svabhav par usake kuchh parinam hote haian. inhian parinamoan ka varnan daivi- sampati- gunavarnan ke nam se solahavean adhyay ke arambh mean kiya gaya hai. aur, terahavean adhyay[5] mean aise dehasvabhav ka nam hi ‘jnan’ batalaya hai. isase jan p data hai ki ‘jnan’ shabd se

  1. ekikaran ki manasik kriya ki poornata, tatha
  2. us poornata ka deh-svabhav par hone vala parinam, ye donoan arth gita mean vichalit haian. atah bisavean shlok mean varnit jnan ka lakshan yadyapi bahyatah manasik kriyatmak dikhaee deta hai, tathapi usi mean is jnan ke karan deh-svabhav par hone vale parinam ka bhi samavesh karana chahiye. yah bat gita rahasy ke navean prakaran ke aant[6] mean spasht kar di gee hai. astu; jnan ke bhed ho chuke. ab karm ke bhed batalaye jate haian-]
