us samay ke ve log keval karmamarg hi se nahian, kiantu brahmajnan tatha kapil saankhyashastr se bhi parichit ho gaye the; aur in tinoan dharmaangoan ki ekavakyata (mel) karana bhi ve log sikh chuke the. aise logoan se yah kahana kisi prakar uchit nahian hua hota, ki “tum apane karmakaand, ya aupanishadik aur saankhy jnan ko chho d do, aur keval shraddhapoorvak bhagavatadharm ko svikar kar lo.” brahman adi vaidik granthoan mean varnit aur us samay mean prachalit yajn-yag adi karmoan ka phal kya hai? kya upanishadoan ka ya saankhyashastr ka jnan vritha hai? bhakt aur chittanirodharoopi yog ka mel kaise ho sakata hai?–ityadi us samay svabhavat: upasthit hone vale prashnoan ka jab tak thik thak uttar n diya jata, tab tak bhagavartadharm ka prachar hona bhi sanbhav nahian tha. atev nyay ki drishti se ab yahi kahana p dega, ki bhagavatadharm mean arambh hi se in sab vishayoan ki charcha karana atyant avashyak tha; aur mahabharataantargat narayaniyopakhyan ke dekhane se bhi yah siddhaant dridh ho jata hai. is akhyan mean bhagavatadharm ke sath aupanishadik brahmajnan ka aur saankhy-pratipadit ksharakshar-vichar ka mel kar diya gaya hai; aur yah bhi kaha hai–“char ved aur saankhy ya yog, in paanchoan ka usamean (bhagavatadharm mean) samavesh hota hai isaliye use paancharatradharm nam prapt hua hai”[1]; aur “vedaranyak sahit (arthat upanishadoan ko bhi le kar) ye sab (shastr) paraspar ek doosare ke agan haian”[2].

‘paancharatr’ shabd ki yah nirookti vyakaran ki drishti se chahe shuddh n ho, tathapi usase yah bat spasht vidit ho jati hai, ki sab prakar ke jnan ki ekavakyata bhagavatadharm mean arambh hi se ki gee thi. parantu, [3]bhakti ke sath any sab dharmaangoan ki ekavakyata karana hi kuchh bhagavatadharm ki pradhan visheshata nahian hai. yah nahian ki bhakti ke dharmatattv ko pahale pahal bhagavatadharm hi ne pravritt kiya ho. oopar diye hue maitryupanishad[4] ke vakyoan se yah bat pragat hai, ki rudr ki ya vishnu ke kisi n kisi svaroop ki bhakti, bhagavatadharm ka uday hone ke pahale hi, jari ho chuki thi; aur yah bhavana bhi pahale hi utpann ho chuki thi, ki upasy kuchh bhi ho vah brahm hi ka pratik athava ek prakar ka roop hai. yah sach hai, ki rudr adi upasyoan ke badale bhagavatadharm mean vasudev upasy mana gaya hai; parantu gita tatha narayaniyopakhyan mean bhi yah kaha hai, ki bhakti chahe jisaki ki jay, vah ek bhagavan hi ke prati hua karati hai-rudr aur bhagavan bhinn bhinn nahian hai[5]. atev keval vasudev-bhakti bhagavatadharm ka mukhy lakshan nahian mani ja sakati.
