eesa ki athavian shatabh‍di mean apoorv vicharak shri shankarachary ka pradurbhav hua aur unh‍hoanne upanishad, brahmasootr evan bhagavad gita ko prash‍than banakar ek aise darshanik siddhaant ki sh‍thapana ki jo bauddh siddhanh‍t ke sath kuchh door tak jakar usaka khandan karata hai. apane siddhanh‍t ke liye shri shankarachary ne keval nigamoan[1] ke pramanh‍y ko svikar kiya hai, aur agamoan ko pramanik nahian mana hai. shri shankarachary ke prayasoan se vedanh‍t-darshan ko ek navin chetana praph‍t huee kinh‍tu mukhh‍yataya agamoan par adharit bhagavat dharm ko aghat pahuancha.

shri shankarachary ka janh‍m dakshin mean hua tha aur vahaan, unake janh‍m mean anek shatabh‍di poorv se, vishh‍nu bhakh‍t alavar santoan ki ek paramh‍para chali a rahi thi. is paramh‍para man barah sant hue haian, jinh‍hoanne apani prath‍yaksh anubhooti ke adhar par apani desh bhasha[2] mean bhakti ka gan kiya hai. in santoan ka prabhav vahaan ke sadharan jan-samaj par to tha hi, samaj ke uchh‍ch sh‍tar bhi inake dvara pradarshit divh‍y alok se alokit the. sh‍vayan alavaroan mean namm alavar kianva shatkop sh‍vami ek rajaputr the aur kulashekhar alavar keral ke raja the. alavar santoan ne apani rachanaoan mean sh‍than-sh‍‍than par vedoan evan vaidik dharm ke prati apani shraddha prakat ki hai kinh‍tu unh‍hoanne nam smaran, ishh‍taradhan evan navadha bhakti marg ko hi bhav-santaran ka ek matr upay batalaya hai. in santoan ki vaniyoan mean darshanikata ka utana hi put paya jata hai jitana bhakti-bhav ki dridhata ke liye avashh‍yak hai aur vah paancharatr siddhanh‍t ke anusar hai. shri shankarachary dvara pratipadit advait vedanh‍t-darshan ke sath bhagavat dharm ko sudridh darshanik adhar par sthit karane ki avashh‍yakata dakshinath‍y vidvanoan ko pratit huee.
