saankhy darshan mean sattv, raj aur tam- ye tin gun bataye gaye haian. inamean rajash madhyam svabhav hai, jisake pradhan hone par vyakti yatharth janata to hai par laukik sukhoan ki ichchha ke karan upayukt samay upayukt kary nahian kar pata hai. gita mean krishn ne arjun ko spasht roop se is gun ka varnan kiya hai-

  • krishn kahate haian- he arjun! sab dehabhimaniyoan ko mohit karane vale[1] tamogun ko to ajnan se utpann jan.[2] vah is jivatmaoan ko pramad, alasy aur nidra ke dvara baandhata hai.[3]
  • he arjun! tamogun ke badhane par antahkaran aur indriyoan mean aprakash, kartavy-karmoan mean apravriti aur pramad arthat vyarth cheshta aur nidradi antahkaran ki mohini vrittiyaan- ye sab hi utpann hote haian.[4][5]

  1. antahkaran aur indriyoan mean jnanashakti ka abhav karake unamean moh utpann kar dena hi tamogun ka sab dehabhimaniyoan ko mohit karana hai.
  2. is adhyay ke satrahavean shlok mean to ajnan ki utpatti tamogun se batalayi hai. aur yahaan tamogun ko ajnan se utpann batalaya gaya- isaka abhipray yah hai ki tamogun se ajnan badhata hai aur ajnan se tamogun badhata hai. in donoan mean bhi bij aur vriksh ki bhaanti anyonyashray sambandh hai, ajnan bij sthaniy hai aur tamogun vriksh sthaniy hai.
  3. antahkaran aur indriyoan vyarth cheshta ka evan shastravihit kartavy palan mean avahelana ka nam ‘pramad’ hai. kartavy-karmoan mean apravritiroop nirooghamata ka nam ‘alasy’ hai. tandra svapn aur sushupti- in sab ka nam ‘nidra’ hai. in sab ke dvara jo tamogun ka is jivatma ko mukt ke sadhan se sanchit rakhakar janm-mrityu roop sansar mean phansaye rakhana hai- yahi usaka pramad, alasy aur nidra ke dvara jivatma baandhana hai.
  4. manushy indriy aur antahkaran mean dipti ka abhav ho jana hi ‘aprakash’ ka utpann hona haian. koee bhi karm achchha nahian lagata, keval p de rahakar hi samay bitane ki ichchha hona, yah ‘apravriti’ ka utpann hona hai. sharir aur indriyoan dvara vyarth cheshta karate rahana aur kartavyakarm mean avahelana karana, yah ‘pramad’ ka utpann hona hai. man ka mohit ho jana kisi bat ki smriti n rahana tandra, svapn ya sushupti-avastha ka prapt ho jana vivek shakti ka abhav ho jana kisi vishay ko samajhane ki shakti ka n rahana- yahi sab ‘moh’ ka utpann hona hai. ye sab lakshan tamogun ki vriddhi ke samay utpann hote hai, atev inamean se koee sa bhi lakshan apane mean dekha jaye, tab manushy ko samajhana chahiye ki tamogun badha hua hai.
