unamean, ya unake brahmajnani shishh‍yoan mean, yajnavalh‍kh‍y ke saman ek-adh doosare purush ke atirikh‍t, koee aisa nahian milata jisane karmath‍yag roop sannh‍yas liya ho. isake viparit unake varnanoan se dekh p data hai, ki ve grihash‍thashrami hi the. atev kahana p data hai, ki samash‍t upanishad sannh‍yas-pradhan nahian haian. inamean se kuchh mean to sannh‍yas aur karmayog ka vikalh‍p hai aur kuchh mean sirph jnan-karm samuchh‍chay hi pratipadit hai. paranh‍tu upanishadoan ke samh‍pradayik bhashh‍yoan mean ye bhed nahian dikhalaye gaye haian; kinh‍tu yahi kaha gaya hai, ki samash‍t upanishad keval ek hi arth-visheshat: sannh‍yas-pratipadan karate haian. saraansh, samh‍pradayiek tikakaroan ke hath se gita ki aur upanishadoan ka bhi ek hi dasha ho gee hai; arthath gita ke kuchh shh‍loankoan ke saman upanishadoan ke kuchh mantroan ki bhi in bhashh‍yakaroan ko khianchatani karani p di hai. udaharanarth, eeshavash‍y upanishad ko lijiye. yadyapi yah upanishad chhota arthath sirf attharah shh‍lokoan ka hai, tathapi isaki yogh‍yata anh‍y upanishadoan ki apeksha adhik samajhi jati hai. kh‍yoanki yah upanishad sh‍vayan vajasaneyi sanhita mean hi kaha gaya hai aur anh‍yanh‍y upanishad aranh‍yak granh‍th mean kahe gaye haian ki yah bat sarvamanh‍y hai, ki sanhita ki apeksha brahman, aur brahmanoan ki apeksha aranh‍yak granh‍th, uth‍taroth‍tar kam paman ke haian.

yah samoochh‍chayath‍mak hai. isake pahale manh‍tr ( shh‍lok ) mean yah kah kar, ki ‘’jagath mean jo kuchh he, use eeshavash‍y arthath parameshh‍varadhishthit samajhana chahiye,’’ doosare hi mantr mean sh‍pashh‍t kah diya hai, ki ‘’jivan bhar sau varsh nishh‍kam karm karate rah kar hi jite rahane ki ichh‍chha rakho.‘’ vedanh‍tasootr mean karmayog ke vivechan karane ka jab samay aya tab, aur anh‍yanh‍y granh‍thoan mean bhi, eeshavash‍y ka yahi vachan jnan-karm samuchh‍chay paksh ka samarthak samajh kar diya hua milata hai. paranh‍tu eeshavash‍yopanishad itane se hi poora nahian ho jata. doosare manh‍tr mean kahi gee bat ka samarthan karane ke liye age ‘avidya’ ( karm ) aur ‘vidya’ ( jnan ) ke vivechan ka aramh‍bh kar, navean mantr mean kaha hai ki ‘’niri avidya ( karm ) ka sevan karane vale purush adhik aandhere mean ghusate haian, aur kori vidya ( brahmajnan ) mean magh‍n rahanevale purush adhik anh‍dhere mean ja p date haian.’’ keval avidya ( karm ) aur keval vidya ( jnan ) ki–alag alag prath‍yek ki-is prakar laghuta dikhala kar gh‍yarahavean manh‍tr mean niche likhe anusar ‘vidya’ aur 'avidya’ donoan ke samuchh‍chay ki avashh‍yakata is upanishad mean varnan ki gee hai-

vidyaan chaavidyaan ch yash‍tadvedobhayan sah.
avidyaya mrith‍yuan tirth‍va vidyayaamritamashh‍nute..
