isaka karan isi prakaran ke arambh mean batala chuke haian ki adhyatmashastr mean akeli buddhi ki hi sahayata se koee bhi ek hi anuman nishvit nahian kiya jata hai, use sadaiv atm-pratiti ka sahara rahana chahiye. isake atirikt sarvada dekha jata hai ki adhibhautik shastr mean bhi anubhav pahale hota hai, aur usaki upapatti ya to pichhe se maloom ho jati hai, ya dhooandh li jati hai. isi nyay se ukt brahmatmaiky ki buddhigamy upapatti nikalane se saik doan varsh pahale, hamare prachin rrishiyoan ne nirnay kar diya tha ki ‘‘neh nanaasti kianchan”[1] -srishti mean dekh p dane vali anekata sach nahian hai, usake mool mean charoan or ek hi amrit, avyay aur nityatattv hai[2]. aur phir unhoanne apani antardrishti se yah siddhant dhooandh nikala ki, bahy srishti ke nam-roop se achchhadit avinashi tattv aur apane sharir ka vah atmatattv, ki jo buddhi se pare hai- ye donoan ek hi, amar aur avyay haian athava jo tattv brahmand mean hai vahi pind mean yani manushy ki deh mean vas karata hai; evan brihadaranyak upanishad mean yajnavalky ne maitreyi ko, gargi varuni prabhriti ko aur janak ko[3] poore vedant ka yahi rahasy batalaya hai.

isi upanishad mean pahale kaha gaya hai, ki jisane jan liya ki ‘‘ahan brahmasmi” -maian hi parabrahm hooan, usane sab kuchh jan liya[4]; aur chhandogy upanishad ke chhathe adhyay mean shvetaketu ko usake pita ne advait vedant ka yahi tattv anek ritiyoan se samajha diya hai. jab adhyay ke arambh mean shvetketu ne apane pita se poochha ki ‘‘jis prakar mitti ke ek loande ka bhed jan lene se mitti ke nam-roopath‍mak sabhi vikar jane jate haian; usi prakar jis ek hi vastu ka jnan ho jane se sab kuchh samajh mean a jave, vahi ek vastu mujhe batalao, mujhe usaka jnan nahian hai;” tab pita ne nadi, samudr, pani aur namak prabhriti anek drishtant de kar samajhaya ki bahy srishti ke mool mean jo dravy hai, vah (tath) aur too (tvamh) arthath teri deh ka atma donoan ek hi haian,- ‘‘ tattvamasi;” evan jyoanhi toone apane atma ko pahachana, tyoanhi tujhe ap hi maloom ho javega ki samast jagath ke mool mean kya hai. is prakar pita ne shvetaketu ko bhinn bhinn nau drishtantoan se upadesh kiya hai aur prati bar ‘‘tattvamasi”—vahi too hai—is sootr ki punaravritti ki hai[5]. yah ‘tattvamasi’ advait vedant ke mahavakyoan mean mukhy vaky hai. is prakar nirnay ho gaya ki brahm atmasvaroopi hai. parantu atma chidroopi hai, isaliye sambhav hai ki kuchh log brahm ko bhi chidroopi samajhean.
