saankhyoan ka mat yah hai, ki ye sab indriyaan kisi ek hi mool indriy se kramashah utpann nahian hoti; kintu jab ahankar ke karan prakriti mean vividhata ka aranbh hone lagata hai, tab pahale us ahankar se ( paanch sookshm karmendriyaan, paanch sookshm jnanendriyaan aur man, in sab ko mila kar ) gyarah bhinn-bhinn gun ( shakti ) sab ke sab ek sath ( yugapath ) svatantr ho kar mool prakriti mean hi utpann hote haian, aur phir isake age sthool seanndriy-srishti utpann hua karati hai. in gyarah indriyoan mean se, man ke bare mean pahale hi, chhathavean prakaran mean batala diya gaya hai, ki vah jnanendriyoan ke sath sankalp-vikalpatmak hota hai arthath jnanendriyoan se grahan kiye gaye sanskaroan ki vyavastha karake vah unhean buddhi ke samane nirnayarth upasthit karata hai; aur karmendriyoan ke sath vah vyakaranatmak hota hai arthath use buddhi ke nirnay ko karmendriyoan ke dvara amal mean lana p data hai.

is prakar vah ubhayavidh, arthath indriy-bhed ke anusar bhinn-bhinn prakar ke kam karane vala, hota hai. upanishadoan mean indriyoan ko hi ‘pran’ kaha hai; aur, saankhyoan ke matanusar upanishatkaroan ka bhi yahi mat hai ki, ye pran panchamahabhootatmak nahian haian kintu paramatma se prithakh utpann hue haian[1]. in pranoan ki arthath indriyoan ki sankhya upanishadoan mean kahian sat, kahian das, gh‍yarah, barah aur kahian kahian terah batalaee gee hai. paranh‍tu, vedanh‍t sootroan ke adhar se shrishankarachary ne nishichat kiya hai ki, upanishadoan ke sab vakyoan ki ekaroopata karane par indriyoan ki sankhya gyarah hi siddh hoti hai [2]; aur, gita mean to is bat ka spasht ullekh kiya gaya hai ki, ‘‘ indriyani dashaikan ch ‘‘[3] arthath indriyaan ‘das aur ek’ arthath gyarah haian. ab is vishay par saankhy aur vedant donoan shastroan mean koee matabhed nahian raha.

saankhyoan ke nishchit kiye hue mat ka saraansh yah hai:— sattvik ahankar se seanndriy-srishti ki moolabhoot gyarah indriy-shaktiyaan ( gun ) utpann hoti haian; aur tamas ahankar se nirindriy-srishti ke moolabhoot paanch tanmatradravy nirmit hote haian; isake bad panchatanmatradravyoan se kramashah sthool panchamahabhoot ( jinhean ‘vishesh’ bhi kahate haian ) aur sthool nirindriy padarth banane lagate haian; tatha, yathasambhav in padarthoan ka sanyog gyarah indriyoan ke sath ho jane par, seanndriy-srishti ban jati hai. saankhy-matanusar prakriti se pradurbhav hone vale tattvoan ka kram, jisaka varnan ab tak kiya gaya hai, nimn likhit vanshavriksh se adhik spasht ho jayegaah-

brahmaand ka vanshavriksh .

purush — ( donoan svayanbhoo aur anadi )— prakriti ( avyakt aur sookshm )

(nigurn; paryayashabd:-jn, drashta i॰ ). (sattv-raj-tamoguni; paryayashabd:- pradhan,)

avyakt, maya, prasav-dharmini adi )

mahanh athava buddhi ( vyakt aur sookshm )

(paryayashabd:- asuri, mati, jnan, khyati i॰ )

ahankar ( vyakt aur sookshm )

( paryayashabd:- abhiman, taijas adi )

( sattvikasrishti arthath vyakt aur sookshm indriyaan ) ( tamas arthath niriandriy-srishti ) paanch buddhindriyaan paanch karmeanndriyaan man panchatanmatraean ( sookshm )

vishesh ya panchamahabhoot ( sthool )

sthool panchamahabhoot aur purush ko mila kar kul tattvoan ki sankhya pachh‍chis hai. inamean se mahanh athava buddhi ke bad ke teees gun moolaprakriti ke vikar haian. kintu unamean bhi yah bhed hai ki, sookshm tanmatraean aur paanch sthool mahabhoot dravyatmak vikar haian; aur buddhi, ahankar tatha indriyaan keval shakti ya gun haian; ye teees tattv vyakt haian aur moolaprakriti avyakt hai.
