“vah karm prayatnapoorvak karana chahiye jisake karane se hamara antaratma santusht ho aur jo karm isake viparit ho use chho d dena chahiye.’’ isi prakar chaturvanary-dharm adi vyavaharik niti ke mool tattvoan ka ullekh karate samay manu, yajnavalky adi smriti- granthakar bhi yahi kahate haiah-

vedah smritiah sadacharah svasy ch priyamatmanah . etachchaturvidhan prahuah sakshadvarmasy lakshanamh ..

“ved, smriti, shishtachar aur apane atma ko priy maloom hona- ye dharm ke char moolatattv hai’’ [1].’’ apane atma ko jo priy maloom ho’’ is ka arth yahi hai ki man ko jo shuddh maloom ho. isase spasht hota hai ki jab shruti, smriti aur sadachar se kisi kary ki dharmata ya adharmata ka nirnay nahian ho sakata tha, tab nirnay karane ka chaitha sadhan ‘manahpootata’ samajhi jati thi. pichhale prakaran me kahi gee prahlad aur indr ki katha batala chukane par, ‘shil’ ke lakshan ke vishay mean, dhritarashtr ne mahabharat mean, yah kaha haiah-

sataan hi sandehapadeshu vastushu pramanamantah karanapravrittayah ..

“satpurush log apane antahkaran hi ki gavahi ko praman manate haian’’[5]. patanjal yog isi bat ki shiksha deta hai ki chitavrittiyoan ka nirodh karake man ko kisi ek hi vishay par kaise sthir karana chahiye; aur yah yogashastr hamare yahaan bahut prachin samay se prachalit hai; atev jab kabhi karm-akarm ke vishay mean kuchh sandeh utpann ho tab, ham logoan ko kisi se yah sikhaye jane ki avashyakata nahian hai, ki ‘antahkaran ko svasth aur shaant karane se jo uchit maloom ho, vahi karana chahiye.’ sab smriti-granthoan ke arambh mean, is prakar ke varnan milate haian ki, smritikar rrishi apane man ko ekagr karake hi dharm-adharm batalaya karate the [6]. ek bar dekhane se to, ‘kisi kam mean man ki gavahi lena’ yah marg atyant sulabh pratit hota hai. parantu jab ham tattvajnan ki drishti se is bat ka sookshm vichar karane lagate haian ki ‘shuddh man’ kise kahana chahiye tab yah saral panth aant tak kam nahian de sakata; aur yahi karan hai ki hamare shastrakaroan ne karmayogashastr ki imarat is kachchi nianv par kh di nahian ki hai.
