brahmastr ek daiviy hathiyar hai, jo sadaiv achook aur ichchhit parinam dene vala raha hai. ramayan aur mahabharat kal mean yah gine chune yoddhaoan ke pas tha. yah devataoan aur gandharvoan dvara pradatt kiya jata hai. ramayan kal mean yah vibhishan aur lakshman ke pas tha. dronachary ko isaki prapti ram jamadagney se huee thi. arjun ne ise dron se paya tha. aisa bhi kaha gaya hai ki use indr ne yah hathiyar bheant kiya tha. apane shatruoan ke vinash ke lie arjun, krishn, kuvalashv, yudhishthir, karn, pradyumn adi ne 'brahmastr' ka prayog samay-samay par kiya tha.[1]

mantrik-astr

brahmastr achook aur ek vikaral astr hai. yah shatru ka nash karake hi chho data hai. isaka pratikar doosare brahmastr se hi ho sakata hai, anyatha nahian. ye ve ayudh haian, jo mantr se chalaye jate haian. ye daivi haian. pratyek shastr par bhinn-bhinn dev ya devi ka adhikar hota hai aur mantr-tantr ke dvara usaka sanchalan hota hai. vastut: inhean divy tatha mantrik-astr kahate haian.

pralayakari astr

do brahmastroan ke apas mean takarane se pralay ki sthiti utpann ho jati hai. isase samast prithvi ke samapt hone ka bhay rahata hai. yadi aisa ho jaye to phir se ek nee prithvi tatha jivadhariyoan ki utpatti karani p degi. mahabharat ke yuddh mean brahmastr ka b da hi rochak varnan aya hai, jo is prakar se hai-

'mahabharat ka yuddh atharah din tak chalata raha. ashvatthama ko jab duryodhan ke adharm-poorvak kiye gaye vadh ke vishay mean pata chala, to ve krodh se aandhe ho gaye. unhoanne shivir mean sote hue samast paanchaloan[2] ko mar dala. draupadi ko samachar mila to usane amaran anashan kar liya aur kaha ki vah anashan tabhi to degi, jabaki ashvatthama ke mastak par sadaiv bani rahane vali mani use prapt hogi. kaurav-paandavoan ke yuddh mean ashvatthama ne arjun par brahmastr ka prayog kiya tha. shiv-pradatt pashupat astr se arjun ne brahmastr ka nivaran kiya.[3] paandavoan ko j d-mool se nasht karane ke lie ashvatthama ne garbhavati uttara par bhi var kiya tha. ashvatthama ne brahmastr chho da, pratyuttar mean arjun ne bhi chho da. ashvatthama ne paandavoan ke nash ke lie chho da tha aur arjun ne usake brahmastr ko nasht karane ke lie. narad tatha vyas ke kahane se arjun ne apane brahmastr ka upasanhar kar diya, kiantu ashvatthama ne vapas lene ki samarthy ki nyoonata batate hue paandav parivar ke garbhoan ko nasht karane ke lie chho da.

krishn ne ashvatthama se kaha- 'uttara ko parikshit namak balak ke janm ka var prapt hai. usaka putr hoga hi. yadi tere shastr-prayog ke karan mrit hua to bhi maian use jivanadan karooanga. vah bhoomi ka samrat hoga aur too? nich ashvatthama! too itane vadhoan ka pap dhota hua tin hazar varsh tak nirjan sthanoan mean bhatakega. tere sharir se sadaiv rakt ki durgandh ni:srit hoti rahegi. too anek rogoan se pi dit rahega.' vyas ne shrikrishn ke vachanoan ka anumodan kiya. ashvatthama ne kaha ki vah manushyoan mean keval vyas muni ke sath rahana chahata hai. janm se hi ashvatthama ke mastak mean ek amooly mani vidyaman thi, jo ki use daity, danav, astr-shastr, vyadhi, devata, nag adi se nirbhay rakhati thi. vahi mani draupadi ne maangi thi. vyas tatha narad ke kahane se usane vah mani draupadi ke lie de di.
