narad ji ki bat sunakar vayu ka se mal ko dhamakana aur semalaka vayu ko tirashkrit karake vicharamaghn hona bhishhmaji kahate haian- rajenhdr! semal se aisa khakar brahmavethtaoan mean shreshhth narad ji ne vayu dev ke pas akar usaki sab batean kah sunayian. naradaji ne kaha– vayudev! himalay ke prishhth bhag par ek semal ka vriksh hai, jo bahut b de parivar ke sath hai. usaki chhaya vishal aur ghani hai aur jade़ bahut door tak phaili haian. vah tumhhara apaman karata hai. use tumhhare prati bahut–se aise akshepayukht vachan kahe haian, jinhhean tumhhare samane mujhe kahana uchit nahian hai. pavanadev! maian tumhhean janata hooan. tum samasht pranadhariyoan mean shreshhth, mahanh evan gauravashali ho tatha krodh mean vaivashvat yam ke saman ho. bhishhmaji kahate haian-rajanh! naradaji ki yah bat sunakar vayudev ne shalhmali ke pas ja kupit hokar kaha. vayu bole- semal! tumane idhar se jate hue naradaji se meri ninhda ki hai. maian vayu hooan. tumhhean apana bal aur prabhav dikhata hooan. vriksh! maian tumhhean achhchhi tarah janata hॅooan. tumhhare vishay mean mujhe sab kuchh jnat hai. bhagavan brahmaji ne praja ki srishti karate samay tumhhari chhaya mean vishram kiya tha. durbuddhe! unake vishram karane se hi maianne tum par yah kripa ki thi, isi se tumhari raksha ho rahi hai. drumadham! tum apane bal se nahian bache hue ho. parantu tum anhy prakritik manushhy ki bhaanti jo mera apaman kar rahe ho, isase kupit hokar maian apana vah svaroop dikhaooanga, jisase tum phir mera apaman nahian karoge. bhishhmaji kahate haian-rajanh! pavan dev ke aisa kahane par semal ne hansate hue se kaha–‘pavan! tum kupit hokar svayan hi apani sari shakti dikhao ‘mere oopar apana krodh utaro. tum kupit hokar mera kya kar loge. pavan! yadyapi tum svayan b de prabhavashali ho; phir bhi maian tumase darata nahian hooan. ‘maian bal mean tumase bahut badh–chadhakar hooan; at: mujhe tumase bhay nahian manana chahiye. jo buddhi ke bali hote haian, ve hi balishht mane jate haian. jinamean keval sharirik bal hota hai, ve vastav mean balavanh nahian samajhe jate’. semal ke aisa kahane par vayu ne kaha-‘achhchha, kal maian tumhhean apana parakram dikhaooanga. ‘itane mean hi rat a gayi. us samay semal ne vayu ke dvara jo kuchh kiya jane vala tha, us par man–hi–man vichar karake tatha apane apako vayu ke saman balavanh n dekhakar socha- ‘aho! maianne naradaji se jo batean kahian thian, ve sab jhoothi thian. maian vayu ka samana karane mean asamarth hooan khyoanki ve bal mean mujhase badhe़ hue haian. ‘jaisa ki naradaji ne kaha tha, vayudev nithy balavan haian. maian to doosare vrikshoan se bhi durbal hooan, isamean sanshay nahian hai; parantu buddhi mean koee bhi vriksh mere saman nahian hai. ‘maian buddhi ka ashray lekar vayu ke bhay se chhutakara paooanga. yadi van mean rahane vale doosare vriksh bhi usi buddhi ka sahara lekar rahean to ni:sandeh kupit vayu se unaka koee anishht nahian hoga. ‘parantu ve moorkh haian; at: vayudev jis prakar kupit hokar unhhean dabate haian, usaka unhhean jnan nahian hai. maian yah sab achchhi tarah janata hooan’. is prakar shrimahabharat shantiparvake antargat apaddharmaparv mean pavan–shalhmali-sanvadavishayak ek sau chhappanavaan adhhyay pura hua.
