is prashn ko hal karane ke liye nam-roopoan ka vivechan karana avashyak hota hai, kyoanki vedaant ki drishti se sab padarthoan ke do hi varg hote haian, jaise atma athava paramatma, aur usake oopar ka nam-roopoan ka avaran; isaliye nam-roopatmak avaran ke siva ab any kuchh bhi shesh nahian rahata. vedaantashastr ka mat hai ki nam-roop ka yah avaran kisi jagah ghana to kisi jagah viral hone ke karan drishy-srishti ke padarthoan mean sachaten aur achetan, tatha sachetan mean bhi pashu, pakshi, manushy, dev, gandharv aur rakshas ityadi bhed ho jate haian. yah nahian ki atma-roopi brahm kisi sthan mean n ho. vah sabhi jagah hai– vah patthar mean hai aur manushy mean bhi hai. parantu, jis prakar dipak ek hone par bhi, kisi lohe ke baks mean, athava nyoonadhik svachchh kaanch ki lalaten mean usake rakhane se aantar p data hai; usi prakar atmatattv sarvatr ek hi hone par bhi usake oopar ke kosh, arthat nam-roopatmak avaran ke taratamy-bhed se achetan aur sachetan mean jaise bhed ho jaya karate haian. aur to kya, isaka bhi karan vahi hai ki sachetan mean manushyoan aur pashuoan ko jnan sampadan karane ka ek saman hi samarthy kyoan nahian hota.

atma sarvatr ek hi hai sahi; parantu vah adi se hi nirgun aur udasin hone ke karan man, buddhi ityadi nam-roopatmak sadhanoan ke bina, svayan kuchh bhi nahian kar sakata; aur ye sadhan manushy-yoni ko chho d any kisi bhi yoni mean use poornataya prapt nahian hote, isaliy manushy-janm sab mean shreshth kaha gaya hai. is shreshth janm mean ane par atma ke nam-roopatmak avaran ke sthool aur sookshm, do bhed hote haian. inamean se sthool avaran manushy ki sthool deh hi hai ki jo shukr-shonit adi se bani hai. shukr se age chal kar snayu, asthi aur majja tatha shonit arthat rakt se tvacha, maans aur kesh utpann hote haian– aisa samajhakar in sab ko vedaanti ‘annamay kosh’ kahate haian. is sthool kosh ko chho dakar jab ham yah dekhane lagate haian ki isake andar kya hai tab kramash: vayuroopi pran arthat ‘pranamay kosh’ man arthat ‘manomay kosh’ buddhi arthat ‘jnanamay kosh’ aur aant mean ‘anandamay kosh’ milata hai. atma usase bhi pare hai. isaliye taittiriyopanishad mean annamay kosh se age badhate badhate aant mean anandamay kosh batala kar varun ne bhrigu ko atm-svaroop ki pahachan kara di hai[1]. in sab koshoan mean se sthool deh ka kosh chho dakar baki rahe hue pranadi koshoan, sookshm indriyoan aur panchatanmatraoan ko vedaanti ‘liang’ athava sookshm sharir kahate haian.
