bhishhm dvara dharmoan ke upadesh ka varnan
raja yudhishthir ne kaha- pitamah! yahaan tak apane rajadharm sanbandhi shreshhth dharmoan ka upadesh diya. prithhvinath, ab ap ashramiyoan ke uttam dharm ka varnan kijiye. bhishhm ji bole- yudhishthir, vedoan mean sarvatr sabhi ashramoan ke liye shvargasadhak yatharth phal ki prapti karane vali tapashya ka ulhlekh haian dharm ke bahut-se dvar haian. sansar mean koee aisi kriya nahian hai, jisaka koee phal n ho. bharatashreshhth, jo jo purush jis–jis vishay mean poorn nishhchay ko pahuanch jata hai (jisake dvara use abhishht siddhi ka vishhvas ho jata hai), usi ko vah kartavhy samajhata hai. doosare vishay ko nahian. manushhy jaise-jaise sansar ke padarthoan ko sarahin samajhata hai, vaise hi vaise inamean vairaghy hota jata hai, isamean sanshay nahian hai. yudhishthir, is prakar yah jagat anek doshoan se paripoorn hai, aisa nishhchay karake buddhiman purush apane moksh ke liye prayathn kare.
yudhishthir ne poochha- dadaji, dhan ke nashht ho jane par athava shtri, putr ya pita ke mar jane par kis buddhi se manushhy apane shok ka nivaran kare? yah mujhe bataiye. bhishhm ji ne kaha- vaths! jab dhan nashht ho jay athava shtri, putr ya pita ki muthyu ho jay, tab ‘oh, sansar kaisa dukhamay hai’ yah sochakar manushhy shok ko door karane vale sham– dam adi sadhanoan ka anushhthan kare. is vishay mean kisi hitaishi brahman ne raja senajit ke pas akar unhhean jaisa upadesh diya tha, usi prachin itihas ko vijn purush drishhtaant ke roop mean prashtut kiya karate haian. raja senajith ke putr ki mrithyu ho gayi thi. ve usi ke shok ki ag se jal rahe the. unaka man vishad mean dooba hua tha. un shokavihval naresh ko dekhakar brahman ne is prakar kaha- ‘rajan! tum moodh manushhy ki bhaanti khyoan mohit ho rahe ho?
shok ke yoghy to tum shvayan hi ho, phir doosaroan ke liye khyoan shok karate ho? aji, ek din aisa ayega, jabaki doosare shochniy manushhy tumhhare liye bhi shok karate hue usi gati ko prapht hoange. ‘prithhvinath, tum, maian aur ye doosare log jo is samay tumhhare pas baithe hai, sab vahian jayange, jahaan se ham aye hai.’
shokakul chitt ki shaanti ka varnan
senajit ne poochha- tapashya ke dhani brahman dev, apake pas aisi kaun–si buddhi, kaun tap, kaun samadhi, kaisa jnan aur kaun–sa shastr hai, jise pakar apako kisi prakar ka vishad nahian hai. sukh aur du:kh ka chakr ghoomata rahata hai. maian sukh mean harsh se phool uthata hooan aur du:kh mean khinhn ho jata hooan. aisi avashtha mean p de hue apane–ap ke liye mujhe nirantar shok hota hai. yah shok mere hriday mean dera dale baitha hai. brahman ne kaha- rajan, dekhoan is sansar mean uttam, madhhmay aur adham sabhi prani bhinhn–bhinhn karmoan mean asakht ho dukh se grasht ho rahe haian.[1]
maian to akela hooan. n to doosara koee mera hai aur n maian kisi doosare ka hooan. maian us purush ko nahian dekhata, jisaka maian ho tatha usako bhi nahian dekhata, jo mera ho (n mujh par kisi ki mamata hai, n mera hi kisi par mamathv). yah sharir bhi mera nahian athava sari prithhvi bhi meri nahian hai. ye sab vashtuean jaisi meri haian, vaisi hi doosaroan ki bhi haian. aisa sochakar inake liye mere man mean koee vhyatha nahian hoti.

sukh du:kh prapti varnan
manushhy hitaishi suhridoan se yukht ho ya n ho, vah shatru ke sath ho ya mitr ke, buddhiman ho ya buddhihin, daiv ki anukoolata hone par hi sukh pata hai. anhyatha n to suhrid sukh dene samarth haian, n shatru dukh dene mean samarth haian, n to buddhi dhan dene ki shakti rakhati hai aur n dhan hi sukh dene mean samarth hota hai. n to buddhi dhan ki prapti mean karan hai, n moorkhata nirdhanata mean, vashtav mean sansar chakr ki gati ka vritaant koee jnani purush hi jan pata hai, doosara nahian. buddhiman, shooravir, moodh, darapok, gooanga, vidvan, durbal aur balavan jo bhi bhaghyavan hoga- dev jisake anukool hoga, use bina yathn ke hi sukh prapht hoga. doodh dene vali gau bachh de ki hai ya use duhane athava charane vale gavale ki hai, ya rakhane vale malik ki haian.
athava use churakar le jane vale chor ki hai? vashtav mean jo usaka doodh pita hai, usi ki vah gay hai- aisa vidvanoan ka nishhchay hai. is sansar mean jo athyant moodh hai aur jo buddhi se pare pahuanch gaye hai, ve hi manushhy sukhi hai. bich ke sabhi log kashht bhogate haian. jnani purush antim sthatiyoan mean raman karate haian, madhhyavarti sthiti mean nahian. antim sthiti ki prapti sukhashvaroop batayi jati hai or donoan ke madhhy ki sthiti du:kharoop kahi gayi hai. khoti buddhivala moorkh manushhy apane karmo ke shubhashubh parinam koee paravah n karake sukh se sota hai, khyoanki vah kamhbal se dhake hue purush ki bhaanti mahan ajnan se avrit rahata hai. kiantu jinhhean jnanajanit sukh prapht hai, jo dvanhdvoan se atit hai tatha jinamean mathsarata ka bhi abhav hai, unhhean arth aur anarth kabhi pi da nahian dete hai.
jo moodhata ko to laangh chuke hai, parantu jinako jnan prapht nahian hua hai, ve sukh ki paristhiyoan ane par athyant harsh se phool uthate hai aur du:kh ki paristhiti mean atishay santap ka anubhav karane lagate hai. moorkh manushhy shvarg mean devataoan ki bhaanti sada vishayasukh mean maghn rahate hai, khyoanki unaka chit vishaya–sakti ke kich d mean lathapath hokar mohit ho jata hai. aramhbh mean alashy sukh–sa jan p data hai, dukh–sa lagata hai, parantu vah sukh ka uthpadak hai. karyakushal purush mean hi lakshhmi sahit aishhvary nivas karata hai, alasi mean nahian. at: buddhiman purush ko chahiye ki sukh ye dukh, priy athava apriy, jo–jo prapht ho jay, usaka hriday se shvagat kare, kabhi himhmat n hare.
shok ke hajaroan shthan hai aur bhay ke saik doan shthan haian, kiantu ve pratidin moorkhoan par hi prabhav dalate haian, vidvanoan par nahian. jo buddhiman, oohapoh mean kushal evan shikshit buddhivala, adhhyathmashashtr ke shravan ichhchha rakhane vala, kisi ke dosh n dekhane vala, man ko vash mean rakhane vala aur jitendriy hai, us manushhy ko shok kabhi chhoo bhi nahian sakata. vidvan purush ko chahiye ki vah isi vichar ka ashray lekar man ko kam, krodh adi shatruoan se surakshit rakhate hue uttam bartav kare. jo uthpati aur vinash ke tattv ko janata hai, use shok chhoo nahian sakata.[3]
jisake karan shok, tap athava du:kh ho, ya jisake karan adhik shram uthana p de, vah dukh ka mool karan apane sharir ka ek aang bhi ho to use thyag dena chahiye. manushhy jab kisi bhi padarth mean mamathv kar leta hai, tab ve hi sab usake vaise dukh ke karan ban jate hai. vah kamanaoan mean se jis–jis ka parithyag kar deta hai, vahian usake sukh ki poorti karane vali ho jati hai. use purush kamanaoan ka anusaran karata hai, vah unhhian ke pichhe nashht ho jata hai.
sansar mean jo kuchh is lok ke bhogoan ka sukh hai aur jo shvarg ka mahan sukh hai, ve donoan trishhnakshay se hone vale sukh ki solahavian kala ke barabar bhi nahian hai. manushhy buddhiman ho, moorkh ho athava shooravir ho, usane poorvajanhm mean jaisa shubh ya ashubh karm kiya hai, usaka vaisa hi phal use bhogana p data hai. is prakar jivoan ko priy–apriy aur sukh–dukh ki prapti bar–bar kram se hoti hi rahati hai, isamean sandeh nahian hai. aisi buddhi ka ashray lekar kamanaoan ke thyagaroopi gun se yukht hua manushhy sukh se rahata hai, isaliye sab prakar ke bhogoan se virakht hokar unhhean pith–pichhe kar de, arthat un se vimukh ho jay. hriday se uthpanhn hone vala yah kam hriday me hi pushht hota hai, phir yahi mrithyu ka roop dharan kar leta hai. khyoanki (jab isaki siddhi mean koee badha ati hai, tab) vidvanoan dvara yahi praniyoan ke sharir ke bhitar krodh ke nam se pukara jata hai. kachhua jaise apane aangoan ko sab or se samet leta hai, usi prakar yah jiv jab apani sab kamanaoan ka sankoch kar deta hai tab yah apane viddh anht:karan mean hi shvayan prakashashvaroop paramathma ka sakshathkar kar leta hai.
jab yah kisi se bhay nahian manata aur isase bhi kisi ko bhay nahian hota, tatha jab yah kisi vashtuoan n to chahata hai aur n usase dvesh hi karata hai, tab parabrahm paramathma ko prapht kar leta hai. jab yah sadhak sathy aur asathy arthat jagat ke vhyakht aur avhyakht padarthoan ka, shok aur harsh ka, bhay aur abhay ka tatha priy aur apriy adi samasht dvanhdoan ka parithyag kar deta hai, tab usaka chit shaant ho jata hai.
jab dhairyasamhpanhn jnanavan purush kisi bhi prani ke pratiman, vani aur kriya dvara papapoorn bartav nahian karata, tab parabrahm paramathma ko prapht kar leta hai. khoti buddhi vale manushhyoan ke liye jisaka thyag karana kathin hai, jo manushhy ke jirn (vriddh) ho jane par bhi shvany kabhi jirn nahian hoti, tatha jo pranoan ke sath jane vala rog banakar rahati hai, us trishhna ko jo thyag deta hai, usi ko sukh milata hai. rajan, is vishay mean pinagla ki gayi huee gathaean suni jati haian, jisake anusar chalakar sankatakal mean bhi usane sanatan dharm ko prapht kar liya tha. ek bar piangla veshhya bahut der tak sanket shthan par baithi rahian, tab bhi usaka priyatam usake pas nahian aya, isase vah b de kashht mean p d gayi, tathapi shaant rahakar is prakar vichar karane lagi.[4]

ab maian ajitendriy nahian rahi hooan. vashtav mean jise kisi prakar ki asha nahian hai, vahi sukh se sota hai. ash ka n hona hi param sukh hai. dekho, asha ko nirash ke roop mean parinat karake piangla sukh ki niand sone lagi. bhishhm ji kahate haian- rajan! brahman ke kahe hue in poorvokht tatha anhy yuktiyukht vachanoan se raja sunajit ka chit sthir ho gaya. ve shok chho dakar sukhi ho gaye aur prasanhnatapoorvak rahane lage.[5]
