rritvijoan ke lakshan, yajn aur dakshina ka mahattv tatha tap ki shreshthata


yudhishthir ne poochha- rajendr! vaktaoan mean shreshth pitamah! rritvijoan ki utpatti kis nimitt se huee hai? unake svabhav kaise hone chahiye? tatha ve kis- kis prakar ke hote haian? mujhe ye sab batean bataiye.

bhishmaji ne kaha- rajan! jo brahyan chhanadah shastr, ’rrikh ’sam‘ aur ’yajuah‘ namak tinoan ved tatha rrishiyoan ke rache hue smriti aur darshanashastroan ka jnan prapt kar chuke haian, ve hi ‘rritvij’ hone yogy haian, un rritvijoan ka mukhy achar hai -raja ke liye ‘shanti’ ‘paushtik’ adi karmoan ka anushthan. jo sada ekamatr yajaman ke hi hit-sadhan mean tatpar rahane vale , dhir, priyavadi, ek-doosare ke suhridh tatha sab or saman drishti rakhane vale haian, ve hi rritvijh hone yogy haian. jinamean kroorata ka sarvatha abhav hai , jo saty bhashan karane vale aur saral haian, jo vyaj nahiean lete tatha jinamean droh aur abhiman ka abhav haian, jinamean lajja, sahanashilata, indriyasanyam aur manonigrah adi gun dekhe jate haian, ve hi purohit kahalate haian. isi tarah jo buddhimanh, saty ko dharan karane-vala, indriy sayanmi, kisi bhi prani ki hiansa n karane vala tatha rag-dvesh adi doshoan se door rahane vala hai, jisake shastrajnan, sadachar aur kul-ye tinoan atyant shuddh evan nirdosh haian jo ahiansak aur jnan vijnan se tript hai, vahi brahma ke asan par baithane ka adhikari hai. tat! ye sabhi mahanh rritvijh yatha yogy samman ke patr haian.

yudhishthir ne kaha- bharat! yah jo yajnasambandhi dakshina vishay mean vedavaky upalabdh hota hai ki ’yah bhi dena chahiye, yah bhi dena chahiye’ yah vaky kisi simit vastu par avalambit nahian haian. atah dakshina mean diye jane vale dhan ke vishay mean jo yah shastr-vachan hai, yah apatkalik dharmashastr ke anusar nahian hai. meri samajh mean to yah shastr ki ajna bhayankar hai; kyoanki yah is bat ki or nahian dekhati ki data mean kitane dan ki shakti hai. doosari or ved ki yah ajna bhi suni jati hai ki pratyek shraddhalu purush ko yajn karana chahiye. yadi daridr shraddha ke bal par yajn mean pravrit ho aur uchit dakshina n de sake to vah yajn mithya bhav se yukt hoga; us dasha mean usaki nyoonata ki poorti shraddha kaise kar sakegi?

bhishmaji ne kaha- yudhishthir! vedoan ki ninda karane se, shathatapoorn bartav se tatha chhal-kapat se koee bhi mahan pad nahian pata hai; atah tumhari buddhi aisi n ho. tat! dakshina yajnoan ka aang hai. vahi vedokt yajnoan ka vistar evan unamean nyoonata ki poorti karane vali hai. dakshinahin yajn kisi prakar bhi yajaman ka uddhar nahian kar sakate. jahaan dhani aur daridr ki shakti ka prashn hai, udhar bhi shastr ki drishti hai hi. donoan ke liye saman dakshina nahian rakhi gayi hai. (daridr ki) shakti ko poornapatr se mapa gaya hai. arthath jahaan dhani ke liye bahut dhan dene ka vidhan hai, vahaan daridr ke liye ek poornapatr hi dakshina mean dene ka vidhan kar diya hai; atah tat! brahman adi tinoan varnoan ke logoan ko avashy hi vidhipoorvak yajnoan ka anushthan karana chahiye.
