at: sannh‍yasini! apako apani jati, shash‍tr jnan, charitr, abhipray, sh‍vabhav evan yahaan agaman ka prayojan bhi yathartharoop se batana uchit hai. bhishh‍m ji kahate- yudhishthir! raja janak ne in du:khajanak, ayogh‍y aur asangat vachanoan dvara usaka b da tirash‍kar kiya, to bhi sulabha apane man mean tanik bhi vichalit nahian huee. jab raja ki bat samaph‍t ho gayi, tab param sunh‍dari sulabha ne ath‍yanh‍t madhur vachanoan mean bhashan dena aramh‍bh kiya.

sulabha boli- rajanh! vani aur buddhi ko dooshit karane vale jo nau-nau dosh haian, unase rahit, atharah gunoan se samh‍panh‍n aur yuktisangat arth se yukh‍t pad samooh ko vakh‍y kahate haian. us vakh‍y mean saukshh‍mh‍y, saankhh‍y kram, nirnay aur prayojan- ye paanch prakar ke arth rahane chahiye. ye jo saukshh‍mh‍y yadi arth haian, ye pad, vakh‍y, padarth aur vakh‍yartharoop se kholakar bataye ja rahe haian. ap inamean se ek-ek ka alag-alag lakshan suniye. jahaan anek bhinh‍n-bhinh‍n jney (arth) upasthit hoan aur ‘yah ghat hai, yah pat hai’ is prakar vash‍tuoan ka prithakh-prithakh jnan hota ho, aise sh‍thaloan mean yatharth nirnay karane vali jo buddhi hai, usi ka nam saukshh‍mh‍y hai. jahaan kisi vishesh arth ko abhishh‍t manakar usake doshoan aur gunoan ki vibhagapoorvak ganana ki jati hai, us arth ko saankhh‍y athava saankhh‍y samajhana chahiye. pariganit gunoan aur doshoan mean se amuk gun ya dosh pahale kahana chahiye aur amuk ko pichhe rahana abhishh‍t hai. is prakar jo poorva par ke kram ka vichar hota hai, usaka nam kram hai aur jis vakh‍y mean aisa kram ho, us vakh‍y ko vakh‍y veth‍ta vidvanh kramayukh‍t kahate haian. dharm, arth, kam aur moksh ke vishay mean kisi ek ka vishesh roop se pratipadan karane ki pratijna karake pravachan ke anh‍t mean ‘yahi vah abhishh‍t vishay hai’ aisa kahakar jo siddhanh‍t sthir kiya jata hai, usi ka nam nirnay hai. nareshh‍var! ichh‍chha athava dvesh se uth‍panh‍n hue du:khoan ke dvara jahaan kisi ek prakar ke du:kh ki pradhanata ho jay, jo vritti uday hoti hai, usi ko prayojan kahate haian. janeshh‍var! jis vakh‍y mean poorvokh‍t saukshh‍mh‍y adi gun ek arth mean sammilit hoan, mere vaise hi vakh‍y ko ap shravan karean. maian aisa vakh‍y bolooangi, jo sarthak hoga. usamean arthabhed nahian hoga. vah nh‍yayamukh‍t hoga. usamean avashh‍yakata se adhik, karnakatu evan sandeh-janak pad nahian hoange. is prakar maian param uth‍tam vakh‍y bolooangi. mere is vachan mean guru evan nishh‍thur aksharoan ka sanyog nahian hoga; komalakanh‍t sukumar padavali hogi. vah paradmukh vh‍yaktiyoan ke liyean sukhad nahian hoga. vah n to jhooth hoga n dharm, arth aur kam ke viruddh aur sansh‍kar shoonh‍y hi hoga. mere us vakh‍y mean nh‍yoon padath‍v namak dosh nahian rahega, kashh‍takar shabh‍doan ka prayog nahian hoga, usaka kramarahit uchh‍charan nahian hoga. usamean doosare padoan ke adhh‍yahar aur lakshan ki avashh‍yakata nahian hogi. yah vakh‍y nishh‍prayojan aur yuktishoonh‍y bhi nahian hoga. maian kam, krodh, bhay, lobh, dainh‍y, anaryata, lajh‍ja, daya tatha abhiman se kisi tarah koee bat nahian bolooangi. nareshh‍var! bolane ki ichh‍chha hone par jab vakh‍ta, shrota aur vakh‍y—tinoan avikal bhav se sam-sthiti mean a jate haian, tab vakh‍ta ka kaha hua arth prakashit hota hai (shrota ke samajh mean a jata hai).
