‘mere pran shithil ho rahe haian. kshudha se meri shravanashakti nasht hoti ja rahi hai. maian dubala ho gaya hooan. meri chetana lupht-si ho rahi hai; at: ab mujhamean bhakshhy aur abhakshhy ka vichar nahian rah gaya hai. ‘maian janata hooan ki yah adharm hai to bhi yah kuthte ki jaangh le jaooanga. maian tum logoan ke gharoan par ghoom-ghoomakar maangane par bhi jab bhikh nahian pa saka hooan, tab maianne yah pap karm karane ka vichar kiya hai; at: kuthte ki jaangh le jaooanga. ‘agnidev devataoan ke mukh haian, purohit haian, pavitr dravhy hi grahan karate haian aur mahan prabhavashali haian tathapi ve jaise avashtha ke anusar sarvabhakshi ho gaye haian, usi prakar maian brahman hokar bhi sarvabhakshi banooanga; at: tum dharmat: mujhean brahman hi samajhoan’. tab chanhdal ne unase kaha- ‘maharshe! meri bat suniye aur use sunakar aisa kam kijiye, jisase apaka dharm nasht n ho. ‘brahmarshe! maian apake liye bhi jo dharm ki hi bat bata raha hooan, use suniye. manishi purush kahate haian ki kuthta siyar se bhi adham hota hai. kuthte ke sharir mean bhi usaki jaangh ka bhag sabase adham hota hai. ‘maharshe! apane jo nishhchay kiya hai, yah thik nahian hai, chanhdal ke dhan ka, usamean bhi vishesh roop se abhakshhy padarth ka apaharan dharm ki drishti se athyant nindit hai. ‘mahamune! apane pranoan ki raksha ke liye koee doosara achhchha - sa upay sochiye. maans ke lobh se ap ki tapasya ka nash nahian hona chahiye. ‘ap shastravihit dharm ko janate haian, at: apake dvara dharmasankarata ka prachar nahian hona chahiye. dharm ka thyag n kijiye; khyoanki ap dharmathmaoan mean shreshth samajhe jate haian. bharatashreshth! nareshhvar! chanhdal ke aisa kahane par kshudha se pi dit hue mahamuni vishvamitr ne use is prakar utar diya- ‘maian bhojan n milane ke karan usaki prapti ke liye idhar-udhar dau d raha hooan. isi prayathn mean ek lanba samay vhyatit ho gaya, kiantu mare pranoan ki raksha ke liye ab tak koee upay hath nahian aya. ‘jo bhookhoan mar raha ho, vah jis-jis upay se athava jis kisi bhi karm se samhbhav ho, apane jivan ki raksha karean, phir samarth hone par vah dharm ka acharan kar sakata hai. ‘inhdr devata ka jo palan roop dharm hai, vahi kshatriyoan ka bhi hai aur agnidev ka jo sarvabhakshithv namak gun hai, vah brahmanoan ka hai. mera bal vedaroopi agni hai; at: maian kshudha ki shanti ke liye sab kuchh bhakshan karooanga. ‘jaise-jaise hi jivan surakshit rahe, use bina avahelana karana chahiye. marane se jivit rahana shreshth hai, khyoanki jivit purush pun: dharm ka acharan kar sakata hai. ‘isaliye maianne jivan ki akaanksha rakhakar is abhakshhy padarth ka bhi bhakshan kar lene ka buddhipoorvak nishhchay kiya hai. isaka tum anumodan karo. ‘jaise soory adi jhyotirmay grah mahan aandhakar ka nash kar dete haian, usi prakar maian pun: tap aur vidya dvara jab apane-apako sabal kar looanga, tab sare ashubh karmoan ka nash kar dalooanga’.
