narashreshth! vishayoan ke upabhog ke samay (buddhi ke dvara) is jivatma ka man kisi ek hi vishay mean niyantrit kar diya jata hai. isiliye usake dvara ek hi sath anek vishayoan ka grahan sambhav nahian ho pata hai. purushasianh! vahi atma donoan bhauanhoan ke bich sthit hokar uttam-adham buddhi ko bhinn-bhinn dravyoan ki or prerit karata hai. buddhi ki kriya ke uttar-kal mean bhi vidvanh purushoan ko ek anubhooti dikhayi deti hai. nripashreshth! yahi kshetrajn atma ko prakashit karane vali vidhi hai.

yudhishthir ne kaha- sarp! mujhe man aur buddhi ka uttam lakshan batalao. adhyatm-shastr ke vidvanoan ke liye inako janana param kartavy kaha gaya hai. tat! atma ke bhog aur moksh ka sampadan karana hi buddhi ka prayojan hai tatha atma ka ashray lekar hi buddhi vishayoan ki or jati hai. is karan vah atma ka anusaran karane vali mani jati hai. vah bhi atma ki chetanashakti ke sambandh se hi hai tatha buddhi ke gunavidhan se arthath usaki jnanashakti ke prabhav se hi man us gun se sampann hota hai yani indriyoan ke vishayoan ko grahan karane mean samarth ho jata hai. atah buddhi to kary ke arambh se prakat hoti hai aur man sadaiv prakat hota hai.
