mahabharat: udyog parv: trichathvariansh adhyay: shlok 13-29 ka hindi anuvad
- rajan! tum jis tapasya ke vishay mean mujhase poochh rahe ho, yah tapashya hi sare jagat ka mool hai; vedavetta vidvan is nishhkam tap se hi param amrit moksh ko prapht hote haian. (13)
- dhritarashhtr bole- sanathsujataji maianne dosh rahit tapashya ka mahathv suna. ab tapashya ke jo dosh haian, unhhean bataiye, jisase maian is sanatan gopaniy brahmatattv ko jan sakooan. (14)
- sanathsujat ne kaha- rajan! tapashya ke krodh adi barah dosh haian tatha terah prakar ke nrishans manushhy hote haian. manhvadi shashtroan mean kathit brahmanoan ke dharm adi barah gun prasiddh haian. (15)
- kam, krodh, lobh, moh, chikirsha, nirdayata, asooya, abhiman, shok, shpriha, eershhya aur nianda-manushhyoan mean rahane vale ye barah dosh manushhyoan ke liye sada hi thyag dene yoghy haian. (16)
- narashreshhth! jaise vhyagha mrigoan ko marane ka chhidr [1] dekhata hua unaki toh mean laga rahata hai, usi prakar inamean se ek-ek dosh manushhyoan ka chhidr dekhakar un par akraman karata hai. (17)
- apani bahut b daee karane vale, lolup, tanik se bhi apaman ko sahan n karane vale, nirantar krodhi,chanchal aur ashritoan ki raksha nahian karane vale- ye chh: prakar ke manushhy papi haian. mahan sankat mean p dane par bhi ye nidar hokar in pap-karmoan ka acharan karate haian. (18)
- samhbhog mean hi man lagane vale, vishamata rakhane vale, athyant mani, dan dekar pashchatap karane vale, athyant kripan, arth aur kam ki prashansa karane vale tatha striyoan ke dveshi- ye sat aur pahale ke chh: kul terah prakar ke manushhy nrishansavarg [2] kahe gaye haian. (19)
- dharm, sathy, indriyanigrah tap, mathsarata ka abhav, lajhja, sahanashilata, kisi ke dosh n dekhana, yajn karana, dan dena, dhairy aur shashtrajnan- ye brahman ke barah vrat haian. (20)
- jo in barah vratoan [3] par apana prabhuthv rakhata hai, vah is samhpoorn prithvi ke manushhyoan ko apane adhin kar sakata hai. inamean se tin, do ya ek gun se bhi jo yukht ho, usake pas sabhi prakar ka dhan hai, aisa samajhana chahiye. (21)
- dam, thyag aur apramad -in tin gunoan mean amrit ka vas hai. jo manishi buddhiman brahman haian, ve kahate haian ki in gunoan ka mukh sathyashvaroop paramatma ki or hai [4] (22)
- dam atharah gunoan vala hai. nimhnaankit atharah doshoan ke thyag ko hi atharah gun samajhana chahiye- kartavhy-akartavhy ke vishay mean viparit dharana, asathy bhashan, gunoan mean doshadrishti, shtri-vishayak-kamana, sada dhanoparjan mean hi lage rahana, bhogechhchha, krodh, shok, trishhna, lobh, chugali karane ki adat, dah, hiansa, santap, shastr mean arati, kartavhy ki vishmrit, adhik bakavad aur apane ko b da samajhana- in doshoan se jo mukht hai, usi ko sathpurush daant [5] kahate haian. (23-25)
- mad mean atharah dosh haian; oopar jo dam ke viparyay soochit kiye gaye haian, ve hi mad ke dosh bataye gaye haian. thyag chh: prakar ka hota hai, vah chhahoan prakar ka thyag athyant uthtam hai; kiantu inamean tisara arthat kamathyag bahut hi kathin hai, isake dvara manushhy trividh du:khoan ko nishchay hi par kar jata hai. kam ka thyag kar dene par sab kuchh jit liya jata hai. (26-27)
- rajenhdr! chh: prakar ka jo sarvashreshhth thyag hai, use batate haian. lakshmi ko pakar harshit n hona- yah pratham thyag hai; yajn-homadi mean tatha kuean, talab aur bagiche adi banane mean dhan kharch karana- doosara thyag hai aur sada vairaghy se yukht rahakar kam ka thyag karana- yah tisara thyag kaha gaya hai. maharshi log ise anirvachaniy moksh ka upay kahate haian. at: yah tisara thyag vishesh gun mana gaya hai. (28-29)
